Shopping for Gas Monster Truck
I'm searching the market for a gas-powered monster truck. I currently own the Traxxas E-Maxx and my dad owns the HPI Savage25. I'm willing to pay up to $600. What's the best truck I can get in this price-range in terms of speed, durability, horse-power, acceleration, and replacement part availibility/support? I've had my eye on the CEN Genesis 46. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

RE: Shopping for Gas Monster Truck
Go LST
Better yet spend some time in the forums of the trucks you're considering instead of reading scores of passionately biased opinions that will no doubt populate this thread and get the real scoop so you can make a better informed decision.
Hope this helps

RE: Shopping for Gas Monster Truck
I have a genesis for quiet some time now. Runs great, wheelie all over the place, its loud and the best bashing truck i have even own. Nothing beats wheelie all the way down the street. I am not doing any serious racing with it because its too big and i have no $$$ left ><. I have no major problem with it so far except broke the gears but got the new parts from cen took care of it. no problem ever since.

Pretty much any truck on the market today is light years ahead of what was available many moons ago. They've come really far. Its a safe bet that you'd be happy with just about any truck on the market. If you want a Genesis, then get one. Hopefully i'll be buying one soon too. If you decide you are going to race at all, then you really should lean towards an LST, or a Revo.

Just keep in mind that the Revo is a smaller 10scale kit unlike most of the better 8scale products/kits on the market today.
The 8scale A/E MGT kit is a very good one also, I have heard here localy It has been killing the competion at one of the local the race tracks.
If you want to race I would suggest looking at some type of 8scale (flat) pan type chassis kits, they are far superiour to many other high CG 8scale kits and are usualy lighter.

RE: Shopping for Gas Monster Truck
Spend some extra and go for the FG Monster Beetle.
Check out the discussions in the Giant Scale Cars for more info about it, but running on Petrol is way easier than Nitro.
Also it is a 1/6 scale, making a Genesis look small
If you drive a lot, then initial cost will soon be overcome by savings in fuel costs.

RE: Shopping for Gas Monster Truck
What is it with FG Beetles? I really don't think that a 1/6 Scale car would be nearly as much fun, they are too big and seem like they would be hard to store/move around. Does gas (petrol) burn as hot as nitro? No....
The fun thing about MT's is that they are small and really fast and can ramp and stuff...I don't think I'd be ramping a 40lb car or how ever much those weigh.
Quit posting about those on the MT board, no one really listens or cares.

RE: Shopping for Gas Monster Truck
I'm not trying to be rude, but everytime someone tries to ask about buying a MT (Traxxas, Losi, CEN, or anything) he has some kind of comment about the FG Beetle being sooo much better because they are GAS powered and that is sooo much cheaper and yada yada yada. Well, they aren't 4x4 which he himself said was an $$$ mod to them, and whoopty doo, they burn regular GAS.
I don't want to be an ahole, but seriously, if they guy wanted a 1/6 scale FG he could ask about it or go to that board on the forum.
If it isn't 4x4 or easily converted to that, technically, it isn't a MT (that is what this board is for) and to me, if the guy wants an MT, esp for what he listed, he wants a 4x4 1/8th scale or 1/10th scale.
I don't want to argue, just making a point. just my $.02.

RE: Shopping for Gas Monster Truck
wow...there's a lot of lst fans. i like the truck too, but every time i talk to the guy at my lhs he tries to change my mind. he says that the diff cases, the roto start and the front upper arms are all weak, and that there have been many complaints. anyone experience any of these? not that my revo was perfect, cause it had its little things too.
