Default Will it highly improve the steering???

I want to put a JR servo in my MGT.. its rated at 200oz. Suppose to be really good.. Highly recommended by my LHS... Will it really make that big of a difference? Will it highly improve the steering???

In theory yes. It's stronger, so ASSUMING it has the same unloaded turning speed
A) It will turn the wheels faster, as it can push resistance faster
B) Resist the tendency for the wheels to want to straighten.

However, I don't have experience with it myself, but 200 oz seems a bit over kill.

200oz w/.18 sec and over $100?
Thats not very good IMO

You should check out Hitec servos,
I have a HS-645MG in my Savage, it may be a little slow spec wise (.20 sec), but it has been a strong (133oz.) and reliable servo for only $40!

I also have two HS-5945MG's in my LST, now these servos are fast @ .13 sec and @ 181oz each they are more then strong enough for my LST, but they do cost $89 each
You may be just fine with one them though....

Or if you want to spend more then $100, I would get one of these if I were you..... HS-5955TG w/ 333oz and .15 sec speed!

That last one insane!

JR servos and Hitec are my favorite, they are strong servos and reasonably priced. The 200 oz should make your steering stronger, and able to turn the wheels harder while turning at speeds.

That last one is a 1/4 scale servo.

This is cut and pasted right from the site I linked too.......

"The HSC-5955TG is the ultimate standard size servo period! This servo was specifically designed for use in giant scale aircraft and large R/C vehicles. With an amazing 333 in-oz of torque and Titanium gears packed in a standard size case it out performs any other servo in the marketplace."

Notice it says "standard size" more then once, which it is.

Here is the complete list of Hitec servos from that site.......

If you scroll down, you will see the 1/4 scale servos listed.

I want my MGT to turn sharper and faster. Imma also throw it in my MBX5... At the track its the turning high and slow thats killing me..... I always have to turn wide just to make it... If imma spend the $100 plus, then i want the best i can get for it.. Thankx for all the good info... What is a good speed? is .18 too slow?

Im not sure speed is real important, but I did notice a difference when I installed the HS-5945's into the LST, that .13 speed is FAST and they have a combined 362oz!
It just turns faster and sharper, it took some getting used to the new feel of the truck on the track

Since you have a single steering servo?...
If you want the best, you should go for the HS-5955TG, IMO there is no such thing as over kill when it comes to steering!

What JR are you referring to at 200oz? Seems the JR i remember being the high torque was at 188 oz, and way faster than .18. I had it in my MGT way before it was in my savage. HUGE improvement.

You'll also notice I corrected myself before you even posted this. Wondering if you hit quote right after I posted and just let it sit for 14 minutes. Your post was 14 minutes after mine, and I had corrected my mistake within 1 minute. Thank you for pointing it out though.

According to Horizon it will fit like a standard servo. Its 2mm wider, and longer according to them. Sounds like a good servo man. If its rated .18 at 4.8, then i'd bet its around .14 at 6.0 volt. Try it out! Give us a review!

Another option that a lot of buggy guys would recommend is an Airtronics 94358Z 200oz at .1 sec at 6v. I don't see the added tourque as overkill on a monster truck. I'm going to use one as my steering servo on my MP777. : )
