The Clodbuster is designed to have two motors

Have a look at the black plastic Differential Housings (Front and rear solid axles) You will see a place to mount the motors. The motors actually get bolted directly to the Diff Housings. So Yeah, you need two motors. The clodbuster is also designed for 4-wheel steering, but you can fix the rear wheels so they don't turn if you like... but 4WS makes it a LOT easier to rock crawl with.

Nice looking Cloddy by the way [8D]

I don't see any reason why you can't make some sort of plate to cover the motor hole in the front diff and let it spin freely and just put a motor in the back diff. I wonder if someone make s a plate? Probably...

I see the emaxx 550 motors for sale once ina while on ebay, why not start with a set of those?

If you use one of these you can get away with 4 wheel steering with a 2 channel radio:

Not sure about super modified clods like yours, but the stock setup uses one servo for both front and read steering. 2 channels, 2 servos, 2 motors. A standard ESC will be fine unless you put bigger motors in.

There is no problem with you running just one motor, but it does kind of defeat the purpose of such a truck. You might want to cover the hole in the front axle if you do this to keep pebbles from jumping in there.

That clod has a different steering setup than a stock clod. It should have mounts to allow you to mount a servo in the front and rear, but its possible the previous owner has it setup for just two wheel steering. Then to run the two servos you just need a "Y" lead. You can then use a standard 2 channel radio.

Just so you know, the Emaxx motors (or any 550's for that matter) wont work with a clod that uses the Tremor or Ripper chassis. The motor cans are too long and will hit on the lower links.

I was going to put them in mine untill I found out they wouldn't fit.
