2.5r 2.5 gallons... but it has scratches in the sleeve (probably caused by me not cleaning the head before removing the glowplug... )

RB Concepts TM323 almost 2 gallons and still running strong...

I have never bought an engine or any rc for that matter (except my mini giant) brand new. All have been used, and I have used 2 1/2 gallons on one of my mad forces, still alot of compression, 3 gallons on a Megatech M16 (on an rc10gt, which the m16 smoked the fantom 12) and its still running strong, and about 3 tanks on my xtm 24.7, also put about a gallon in an old kyosho flat head.

well nothing to be surprised of,

traxxas says that the trx 2.5 will last around 3 gallons, so there u have it!!!!

i personally think they given that small little engine tooo many steroids,

and HPI says that there engines will last 100 hours ++ i read it somewhere in their web site, in the FAQ

how many hours would 3 gallons do?? according to my calculation 3 gallons would be about 40 hours of runtime, (i took 20 miniutes of runtime per tank of 125cc)

so there u are, 40 hours trx 2.5 and 100++ for the savage engine - no hard feelings traxxas lovers!

my trx 2.5 about 2 gallons, slowly loosing it, had to increase my idle to keep it from stalling

Reading these number has me a bit scared.

I just bought my first Nitro RC car and it should be arriving shortly but I'm starting to think that these are really high maintanence toys.

In the summer time I could see using it for several hours a day in a sand pit and quarry behing my house.

With that in mind the engine will have to be replaced about every two or three weeks? Or just the piston and sleeve?

I bought a Revo with an OS .18TM.

McFrosty. This is an expensive hobby, but nitro trucks are so cool. You won't regret it.

When your motor gets weak, you can just replace the piston and sleeve. However, some motors are so cheap you can buy the whole motor for just a couple dollars more. The OS .18 TM is a more expensive motor so it would be cheaper to just replace the piston and sleeve. If you had the stock Revo motor, I would say just buy a new motor because it's only about $20 more than the piston and sleeve.

Don't let the cost scare you. It's not that bad. Besides, it's just money. And you haven't seen expensive until you have kids...

lol, thats exactly what I thought. Have fun now while I can.

My other/old hobby is CarAudio so I'm familiar with spending thousands on toys.

i jumped into rc to have a lesser costing hobby than car audio. it is still expensive, but i have a few rc's and have less money tied into them than a good install. from the looks of your equipment (mcfrosty) you have no problem spending money on your hobbies and rc's will cost alot less than that install did.

LOL... well, I think mine was my fault... I didn't follow ANY of the rules... no after-run at all... and I didn't clean the head when I changed the glowplugs, which I think got dirt in the cylinder... I think it still has good compression/pinch.. just has marks in the cylinder...

Wow I didn't realize that it is more the norm for an engine to crap out after only a few gallons of fuel! I have a hyper 21 turbo in my ofna pirite mt, and have run better than 7 gallons through it. It will still wheelie across the yard, and keep up with my buddies MGT. I just ordered a revo, it'll be in friday, sure hope to get more than 3 gallons through it.

engine lasting has alot to do with how you take car of it, like putting the piston at the bottom of the cylinder after every run, puttting some after run oil every now and then, a good airfilter to keep out dirt, tuning, if you do everything right and tune it a little rich every time then you should be good for atleast 4 gallons, the x factor right now has about 2 gallons through it and it has really really good compression, feels like new, so hopefully shell last for about 4 gallons, if not then i guess ill be buying an os big block to go in it

my old xtm motor ran for around 4 gallons and i didnt take care of it too well, so maybe this one will run longer
