Default My XFactor... Updated 2/6! 80% done, Cold Air Induction!

I wanted a 'scale' MT, and wasn't sure if I wanted it to be nitro or electric, so the XFactor is the logical choice. If I decide to go electric in the future which is likely, the swap is a lot easier then making a Clod or TXT nitro! I am gonna try and locate and buy a used one within the next few weeks.

This is gonna be a show truck more or less, I am going to test my meddle in building custom parts. Before you say this or that, I am not asking 'should I buy one?', I am saying I am getting one, so criticism is unnecessary. I have been in the game long enough to know what I am getting into.

This is from midnightmaniac76 on the Global site. Who can argue that the Xfactor is not the baddest looking scale nitro available? If anyone else has pics, would be happy to see em.

Hey Binary, I didn't know if you still had one or not! You still own that one? You were like one of the pioneers. Don't know how you got the 11k post count on Global! rofl!

Oh, Mayhem- def buying it used, I don't want another radio hanging around. 4 1/18 and 1 LST trucks all have their RTR radios, it's pretty silly. Very glad to have the XS3 now that came with the LST. Plus I also don't need another junky Hitec-311 Sx in my toolbox. I would be happy with a truck and engine at this point. I am down to a couple options from sellers already.

I have found one, $155 shipped, Xfactor, Jeep Body + engine in good shape. Needs a tie rod end and a cooling head (which I have).

Not looking for a basher, I know the XFactor has limitations. This is a show truck project.

Here it is in all of it's 'ahem' glory. I should have it by next week. It's pretty beat up, but I was looking for a project. No radio, no servos or receiver, just a truck and engine.

Its a sick looking rig but I think It would look better with a standard 4 bar and shock setup instead of the cantalever design.
You know we expect to see pics of it perched up on some rocks right?

Totally agree, this truck does not have a very efficient suspension for anything.

This is an open ended project- could take me a few months, could take me a year. Everything is going to be polished or anodized to fit a theme I am looking at. This is gonna be a show truck that probably sees the driveway or grass a time or two, but otherwise is just going to be my project to customize, build parts for, jack up, shine up and show off. My whole idea has changed since I started this thread.

I see my vision- anodized chassis, chromed cases, polished links, show body and whatever else pops up in this little head. Still not sure on whether it will stay nitro or go electric to run in the house. Nitro = CEN 46 w/polished crankcase and Nova head, Electric = dual brushless.

Just for you, I will get some rock perch shots BEFORE I tear it down.

Dale, dont lie, we all know the second you get it, you will fix it up. Then you will put it on the shelf for a few days and say "screw it" and take it outside to play.

Of COURSE that is what I am going to do...

However, she needs a receiver, servos, parts, etc. so it's gonna be a while. I am still trying to finish putting my LST together- I am like 3 weeks into it now. I have all of the parts, and it's basically together, I Just take my time and do a little here and there. See? It's almost done!

I have a ton of 18T parts for the 18T, it's due for a rebuild since my diffs are stripped, and my Quake has parts waiting to go on. I have only driven the Mini LST like twice in the last few weeks.

Christmas + kids + inlaws = no time at all.

Dale, that xfactor you bought, i notice its the orginal on, cause nothing is annodized blue, it looks beat up like you said, but if you tear it down and clean it up it should look like new, this should be a cool project and i look forward to pictures during your build up.

I use to have an X-Factor. IT was fun to run around, not bash but to do wheelies with and jump off small curbs and climb with it was a blast. I might think about a X-Factor II sometime next year.

Yea a few years ago i thought about getting an xfactor, cause they look so cool in person, but i talked my seld out of it and got a savage because i do more bashing. Next year i might be looking into getting an emaxx but thats a different story.
