I've got the xtm kit, with the 24.7, I've only run it once, the power seemed pretty impressive with the 24.7. On the conversion kit I had to dremel out the cups on the tranny because the shafts were slightly too long and were binding. Overall the kit is really nice.

XTM conversion kit is the best kit for that price. The 24.7 is the best engine for the price. You will be spending lots on tranny gears and diff's no matter how much you spend on your kit and engine. NWHobbies had combo kits for about $240. shipping U.S. lower 48 included. Well worth every penny!

It all depends on how much you want to spend, cause there are alot of options out there.

You'll save some heartache and $ on tranny gears if you get a forward only kit. Rix Gear makes one simple and only about $20. You lose reverse but it's no big deal, gets rid of the lurching too plus u lose a good amount of weight in the tranny. Xtm .21 conversion is probably the best for the $ but I had the Racer's Edge on mine + MIP Cvd's with an OS RG-X motor and it was Great. oh yea, here's a link for Rix Gear http://www.rixgear.com/rg_products_11_2_A.html

Or you could get the tranny kit from MonsterMaxx I will include the site below also with some pics of my truck aswell. His gears are almost impossible to break trust me I got to test them and the motors he uses on his truck along with some of us would shread a regular tranny and these can take every bit of abuse. And lets say something goes wrong he has a pretty sweet replacement program.

or you could sell your tmax on ebay and get a better truck. I mean really those racer guys spend like 1200$ on a tmax to get essentially an ofna monster pirate with differnt wheels and a 2 speed. they have the buggy drive shaft setup, forward only tranny and a 21 conversion. whats the big deal about this truck anyway?

I wish like 1200 dollars was all I spent LOL LOL, man my total hit near $1900 but then again its a damn bulletproof truck and doesn't lose many races. lol But yeah he has a point a MP is a much cheaper way to go just a T-Maxx is a very different truck and has alot of benefits aswell as the MP. SuperMaxx = to much money, = )
