Default THE TOWER HOBBIES NEW TRUCK!

Have anyone seen that new truck on their website, the Tower Terror? I saw the vided and the thing looks pretty powerful. It's also a good price for what the video shows. The only thing is, will y ou only be able to get parts from Tower Hobbies? And its so new that you might wanna let them work the kinks out. It also might not or probably don't have any aftermarket support since its so new. Just what do yall think of it??

OK, I just looked. For $20 more you can get this:

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXKVJ1&P=7

($20 off - check their home-page)

If you don't like Stunt Steve, you can always get whatever new body you want. Then you've got a new Savage.

Just noticed on e-bay here in Germany new Savage 25's are going dirt-cheap all over the place..

EDIT: Well OK, I guess the deal applies to the Tower Truck as well, so the Savage is $40 more.. Still, I wouldn't go near that Tower thing.. And the Savage 25 is still tougher than anything out there - including the X.

Get the one with the ATV for $340, -the $20 off offer from Tower, sell the ATV and Stunt Steve, then buy a normal truck body(prob for less). You're in with a brand new Savage 25 with a body of your choice for about $320. OK, add five bucks for a can of paint..

I've seen vids of the Hpi Savage. It Is awesome. I found out the Tower Terror is made by Hpi/Hotbodies, So it's a Hpi, I guess. I also noticed it center of gravity is lower than the Savage. Watching the vids, The Terror seams to handle better at speed because of the low CG. What I really wanted was 1) Cen Genisis 2) Duratrax Warhead. Since this is my first Nitro rc. I did not want to start off spending a huge amount of money. I plan on driving this truck real hard. I'll let you guys know what I think, what broke, so on. Peace.

It does look nice, and I look forward to owning one next year, but stock it's not gonna be SUPER good. Unless it's geared pretty high(most likely isn't from the vids with tons of wheelies) it won't be that fast. I don't know how their engines are, but I would have put in a .26 or a greater brand.

That truck is not made by HPI, it is a Flying Point Zircon.

Like I said earlier I really don't give a F#$k who makes it. What I do know is that it's the one I can afford right now. It's also the one I'm gonna beat the s%$t out of. For all of you interested in finding out how good it really is, I plan on racing it against my friends Savage & his MT Rush. Stay tuned. Peace.

Calm down there Sparky...
Based on the history of Duratrax/Tower Hobbies RCs, it's a good bet that this truck is going to have some issues.
You should listen to the guys that have been in this hobby for years. You were probably better off buying something used, and beating the crap out of it. Used stuff is going dirt cheap these days. People dive head first into the hobby, then figure out that it's not for them.
Cheers

No sweat dude, I'm not upset. I just would like to see people being positive about a new product. I mean it's not out yet, we can speculate but really shouldn't judge. I may be a beginner at nitro but I have been reading Nitro mags for many years. My mechanical knowledge is above par. I don't mind fiddling, adjusting or repairing. It's part of the fun.

If it does turn out to be a bust, then I'll be forced to by the Cen Genisis. Peace.

You won't beat a savage stock. Once it hits 2nd it'll be gone since the engines are similar, so it's all about gearing in that case. I'd like to race one with my tnx though...would generate a laugh I'm sure

I would never buy that truck in a million years.. I sympathize if that's all you can afford right now, but I would strongly recommend saving up and getting a Savage or MGT - especially if you're so intent on beating the crap out of it.. Because I guarantee over a year's time you'll spend just as much keeping the cheap truck in one piece as you would on the others, cuz since the others are better quality they won't need as much repairing, etc..

This truck has more rumors surrounding it than anything other that I've seen. It's clearly based on the Flying Point truck, but only the platform. The engine supposedly has something to do with HPI, but the truck also has a sort of Duratrax flair about it too. The wheels look like larger versions of some of the wheels that came on Duratrax and Carson STs.....kind of. The axles look very familiar too....

I just don't know. I think I want one. It's based on an okay truck and parts availability shouldn't be much of a concern. I use Tower or Killer for most of my RC purchases anyway.

No it's not. That has different suspension, 8 shocks, wheels/tires/body/engine so basically the only similar thing is the chassis plates.
