loosen the carb-locking fastener a bit. then tap inwards on it[towards the other side]. this loosens the other half of the fastener. then your carb should come out with a twist or two. make sure that the threads are still engaged on the 2 fastener halves so that you don't mess up the threads. hope this was a clear enough explaination.

I still can't get this thing to budge. It should be able to pop right off with a couple of turns back and forth right?

yes, will it turn at all? i remember mine was a bit of a bear to get loose too. were you able to remove both halves of the locking fastener? also known as a cinch bolt? forgot the name in last post.

It will turn about a fraction of mm. I unscrewed the screw to the lock fastener but did not take the halves out. Would I need to do that and how.

yes, you'll need both halves out. i tried to explain earlier but may have been too confusing. ok, take the screw that you removed and put it back in, say 2or3 turns. so it's threaded in but not tight. then tap on it like your trying to tap it back into place. this will push the other half of the cinch bolt out the far side of the carb neck. then once it's loosened up, remove both halves of the cinch bolt and your carb should come loose.

Thank You very much 89ram. It came off real easy. I would of never thought of taking the cinch bolt off like that. You are a savior
