Not able to do a wheelie after breakin, T-Maxx
I am on my second tank after breakin (7th all together) and I can not do a wheelie of the line. I am pretty sure I broke it in ok, I might have gone a tad bit over 1/4 throttle on the first tank. I heard that the t-maxx gets more powerful on every tank for awhile after breakin. It is fast and almost gets a wheelie on take off, but cant get it all the way up. Is this a gear ratio problem? I also am not super good at fine tuning all the fule things, will this help that much from factory settings?
Thanks

Yes....once your engine is completely broken in....and you do adjust the carb needles for fine tune running (careful...not to lean)....you'll see a performance increase. However, as was mentioned by dfrazier....check your slipper clutch as it's probably not tightened all the way. BE CAREFUL.....after you do tighten it and apply full throttle at a standstill....your rig is going to want to flip over back wards onto it's top.
Good Luck!

thanks for the help. I am going out with a kid tommarow that knows alot about the 2.5 maxx so he should be able to tune it pretty well for me. I will tighten the slipper clutch later cause I really dont want to take apart my new maxx. I looked and I would have to take out the gear box to tighten. if there is another way plz tell
Thanks again

You might want to try and do as much work to your truck on your own. This way you will know how to do adjustments in the future. That smart kid might not always be around. Just my 2c

true but I figure it is better to do it right and keep the engine healthy. Also the manuel said not much tinkering is needed after it is done correctly, Plus I know some already and can learn more from watching, thanks though

Here's a picture of the slipper nut on your TMaxx.

Thanks I will tighten it soon, but like I said I dont really want to take it apart just yet. Is there a way to tighten it with out taking out the gearbox?

Yes....just put a wrench on the nut and tighten it. You DO NOT TAKE OUT THE GEARBOX to tighten the slipper nut. It's all done from outside as you can see in the picture.

dont tighten it all the way in, you dont wanna break your
dogbone or some other parts. if the slipper clutch doesn not
slip at all, it is another problem. it should slip (maybe only slip)
on a hard landing

forcelite....Check your manual for adjustments on the slipper nut....it tells you to tighten it all the way....then back it off 1/4 turn. The idea is that it can slip so if your doing jumps....landing hard....etc....it will keep the engine/tranny from becoming damaged in the process.
I think once your past the break in procedure....and you get the needle leaned out....you'll see a big difference in performance. As mentioned before....just be careful when applying full throttle as you can flip your rig over onto it's top.
Good Luck!

Mine wont wheelie either. Its got a 1/2 gallon of 20% nitro fuel thru it.
The slipper nut has been adjusted. When I give it full throttle off the line it just goes.
It might be the low speed mixture is still to rich. The high speed is pretty close when i run it wide open the head tremp is 240-250.
By the way most stuff on Tmaxx is metric. The slipper is 7mm wrench.

No wheelies?
You can also try stiffening the rear suspension using the spring spacers that come with your T-maxx.
When you nail the throttle, all the power goes into making your T-maxx squat. The soft suspension absorbs all the power. Stiffen that up and you'll have a hard time keeping it on 4 wheels.
Don't go messing with the slipper clutch or mixture when you've only run a few tanks through it.. You'll risk damage to the transmission. The slipper is supposed to slip.... tightening it just defeats the purpose.
Finish tuning the engine to Traxxas specs (high and low speed mixture etc) and then put the largest spacers in above your rear coil springs.. It takes two minutes and will work...Guaranteed.
