40 Series tires or standard MT tires?
OK I'm new to nitro and MT's, so I don't really know the difference.
Can someone please explain whats different, and which one is better for what reason.

40 series tires and rims aren't really faster. In fact they are slightly slower than standard maxx size tires. They are bigger and takes more rotiationary forces to move them. Once up to speed, yes they can go faster. But on a race track where the quick punch and accelration is important, i think the 40 series would be a tad slower.

40 Series is More of a Wheel/Rim Size,
As you can get Low Profiles.......Like......Bow Ties/Crime Fighters/ Road Rage....All Smaller than Normal MT (Maxx) Size Tires.....
Or some Big 40 Series too....Like......MOABs/Big Joes/Losi ATX/Losi King-Pins.....All Bigger that Normal MT (Maxx) Size Tires......

don't waist your time on 40 siries, they are worhtless for racing or normall bashing, its just a way to spend money. Get some maxx size wheeles, they are much faster, no one really uses 40 siries to race other then guys with 528 and P-3's and other insainly powerfull engines ware they need the extra weight and restriction to keep more traction. You say you are new to rc? Get soem standard rims and get an agressive all turrain tire like imex's swamp dawgs or claw dawgs, they work very well ,and bow-ties are great for pritty much any dry sefice and will last forever.
Hear are some examples, the first is imex claw dawgs, the second is bow-ties, and the other two are of some 40 siries beedlocks wiht moab tirees, they make they truck to heavy and slow and as you can see, are far from scale.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the 40 series wheels just so I can run the big joe treads. They are also alot wider.

The 40 series is only bling bling. The fact that they are wider will only make your monster turn less. Sure it will add more stability in the straights.
If you still want 40 series you'll have to buy 23mm hex adaptors, and gotta remember that only pro-line makes tires for the 40 series. Choices is real narrow. With standard size MT rims and tire you'll be able to run tires and rims from almost every company. By the way, don't be surprise to see the Big Joes in Maxx size soon. They always do that for their popular tread.

RE: 40 Series tires or standard MT tires?
Here some photographic evidence that I run both and my opinion was based on my direct experience and not what I have read on the internet.
Max sized bowties on the left, Panther Python on stock LST2 420 series wheels on the right.
Max sized bowties on STR 17mm hex rims.
LOSI 420 series rims (40 series with a 20mm hex stock) with Panther Pythons (soft compound)
Fellow racers that I respect, at my local track, swear by the Maxx sized BT's on their LST's but I just get a more precise feeling from my 40 series. I know I would not bother glueing any racing tire up without the OFNA molded foams right now.

What are you trying to prove ? stay with jumboscrap if you want. we are talking about 40 series and standard size tires. Jumbomaxx aren't by any means standard.

If you had meant that positively, you could have said:
Never heard of anyone needing wider tires for stability in straights.
Sure it will add more stability in the turns.

Ladies ladies... just a simple question, no need to get all angry on the internet over it
I'm going to stick with the stock LST2 tires for a bit, and hope in the time that they get destroyed Proline come out with a Big Joe Maxx sized tire, if not, 40 series will be for me.

RE: 40 Series tires or standard MT tires?
hey 2D are those the velocity rims that are made for the STR truggy ETC? Are they any diff from the actual standard size max rims other than the 17mm hexes? If not then look like i found my next rim as i cant afford to pay to get Dace 23mm hex rims. CHEERS
BTW i will only be bashin so what tyre would u recomend that is long lasting but provides good grip all around.
