Default New MGT help (turn radius)

Just started breaking my sons Associated MGT truck in this weekend. I've burned 2 tanks of gas through so far and no problems but I noticed that it takes for ever to turn the truck 180 Degrees. Is there anyway to increase the turning radius on these things. I zeroed the steering trim on the transmitter but like I said it takes the width of my entire back yard for this thing to turn around??

Hey Ducked.

I gotta try that 4 channel mod for sure. It's the right price!

I'll let you know when I run the next tank...

10,000k fluid in the front will solve that football-field-turning-radius problem!

Make sure the dual rate knob on the radio is turned all the way its just above the throttle on the radio.

Ha! I remember after a few tanks, the steering went south. Then I noticed the rate knob was almost closed! I drove around for about 10 minutes thinking "man, this thing steers aweful!"

Holy Cow. Thanks badmaro!!!

I totally forgot about that adjustment. It WAS almost off. I dialed it just about to the end and much more steering. That should work out fine.

One more question. Do most people run the spacers in the shocks. I don't have any in but it seems like the truck needs it since the rear end seems to be dragging all the time. Not sure if that's good or bad?

I've got one in, Also I've got Firm and hard (red and copper) springs at each corner and 40 weight oil in. Makes it a LOT better

If you're still running blue (soft) springs chances are you'll need a spacer or two to get that thing off the ground.

Glad to see you got it fixed. If you literally want to turn on a dime, you could do a 4-wheel steering mod. It's crazy and makes the truck a lot more fun in smaller spaces...but you lose a lot of controllability at high speed straights.

Do I have to put a spacer on each shock set or can I just insert it on one of the two shocks at each corner. Reason I ask is it's awful hard to get my fingers into the inside shocks.

I put 4 of the larger spacers in at each shock corner (outside most shock)

Is this OK or am I screwing up the handling by only shimming one shock out of the pair?

That will be fine. You are just "preloading" the shocks, which will cause them to act a little stiffer than they actually are. A lot of racers run copper on the outside and red on the inside, which would be close to the same effect.

Cool. I'll check the handling out when I run tanks 3 and 4 through her this weekend!

I put one large, and two of the next size smaller spacers in each shock. I want to get some stiffer springs.

Here's another thing that is simple and cheap, that will help your turning radius - [link=http://www.ultimaterc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78829]custom link[/link] ... I made one myself, added 5mm to each side. But, $10 is cheap if you don't have the means...(a piece of aluminum and a dremel are all you really need..)
