LST2. Thats what I'd go for. I'm still not convinced on CEN after my last one and definatley when it comes to the Losi I would choose that.

I like to go to my local hobby shop to buy my Losi parts, so CEN is out since they don't have a single part on any hobby shops shelves within 50 miles of here. I sometimes don't mind waiting for parts ordering online, but if something stupid and small breaks I don't like to wait 10 days to get new parts.

I am a Losi fanboy though... LST has me hooked.

Well i must say your picking from probably the BEST two MT's on the market so you CAN'T go wrong with either one. I have both (but haven't received the LST2 in the mail yet) so I can't give you a definate answer BUT i know the LST2 is a good racer, vice the GST because it's so darn big definately not made to really race but it bashes right there with a Savage! BUT i suggest a LST2 since your wanting to RACE/bash.

Those of you who are skeptic of the GST 7.7 REALLY need to drive one, i can guarantee your minds will change! In this guys case though the LST 2 is the better choice.

I agreed (jucd) I own a losi lst2 and a cen monster truck as well, (Lst2)I also agreed with evey one else out there too ,good truck. But it's like you said (jucd), for some of you who never ran the cen genesis or nemesis believe me, you will not be dissapointed, So (hpidrifter) I know your mind is made up about getting the lst2 and I respect that but if ever in the future you decide on getting a cen monster truck try it you will not regret it!! I own a genesis and i also race, with it and man let me tell you it can hang right there with the best of them with no problems and sometime's I even win race's as well. Good Luck on your purchase of the LST2. And HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![sm=thumbup.gif]

i own GST and drivein LST a few times. Both trucks are awesome.. GST is more fun bashing wise for me becaus of size and massive torque, ut LST does seems to easier to drive on the track and racing.

I'm so happy I found this post, my maxx got run over by a REAL truck, and the repair bill is like 600 bucks (that's only half the truck too!), so these are exactly the two I was thinking of. In the rcca review, they said the CEN has slow servos, but that's it. Does anybody know if the Hardcore Racing Ti parts make it measurably lighter?

You said racing, and that pretty much made it obvious which one you are going to have to choose.

Hint, it doesn't start with G, or end in 7.7

I'm stuck on this problem too. Dude at my LHS almost talked me out of gettin the GST over the LST2, because of the parts. It's hard to pick what one I want but I'm still thinking of the GST more, I'm only in it to bash. Just got to get over the waiting game or start my own part shop.....

You should get the GST, seems thats what you want. Do what I did, order a few extra parts off e-bay. A arms and turnbuckles and you'll be set.

The look of the GST got me, with the top off, i'm going to have to say, it's sexy....think it's a little bit cheaper too, must be the servo they cheaped out on

Well, no offense Losi, but your service is kind of... Iffy.

And besides then, GST completely tramples all over LST2.

GST comes equipped with five horsepower. That's an absolutely ENORMOUS amount of torque. It's 17 lbs. Huge momentum for hillclimbing and jumps. It has great shocks. Good for jumps. It would plow down LST2's engine like an obese penguin making for the fish stand while the keeper's away... Notice this. LST2 isn't half it's size, it's bigger than THAT. (Although still no match for GST.) But notice that LST2's engine is half GST's. My only concern is crashing head-on into a substance, which'll breaks the turnbuckle and A arms kind of easy, but that can be fixed by getting a few spares in advance or just replacing them with stronger parts. The GST is extremely durable, huge torque, huge tires, great engine. The best truck you can buy for bashing around with that's not gonna turn into a 2 grand deal. THE most powerfull truck on it's scale, and almost including 1/5's.

The CEN Engine as tested on the X-Dyno,
CEN 0.460 X-76 .46 1.58 @ 21,250 rpm 74.88 oz-in @ 16,500 rpm 36,000 rpm Byron 30%
Not even remotly close to 5 HP.........Don't belive everything you read in the Adds.......

The Mach 427 as tested on the X-Dyno, Not bad for being half the Size as you put it........
Team Losi 0.270 Mach 427 1.31 @ 26,750 rpm 53.80 oz-in @18,750 rpm 43,250 rpm Trinity Monster HP 30%

Every manufacture overrate their engine but that dyno thing Xtreme got just doenst make any sense. Its like saying a V12 making the same horsepower as a I4, yet if you put that Mach 427 in the GST, it can barely turn the wheels.

If every .28 is rated over 3 hp.. i dont see how the .46 cant be 5hp. Just my thought.

In the LST2 the Mach has way more top end than the .46, Theres a Few guys that have tried the .46 in the LST2 and it's got Lots of Torque....But runs out of Revs for top end......

Hate to break it to you kid, but these numbers are as accurate as it gets. Cen overrated their engine so badly, I'd call it false advertising, considering that it is the main selling point besides the size. And considering that an engine that's half the size can still make almost the same HP and torque is pretty sad too.

The reason the CEN has a 3-speed tranny, besides because it's good for advertising, is because that engine needs it. The CEN X-76 is a low-revving "high power" engine. Without that 3-speed tranny, I doubt it would be very fast at all.

The other funny thing is, is that dropping in the Mach 427 would make the GST faster, and would still be just as powerful.

The reason that the .26 can make almost as much horsepower as the .46 is simple. It's design, and porting. The Mach 427 has a lot of thought and work put into it, vs. the CEN is more of a helicopter engine that was fitted for car uses. Which explains the low revving. If the CEN .46 were ported and designed specifically for car use, I wouldn't doubt the thing would be able to put out some serious torque. I'd like to see someone mod one, and see what Dyno specs it gets after that.

The best part about the Xrc dyno statistics is that they are done on the same machine, with the same load and the same gear ratio. It does not matter one bit how 'correct' hp numbers are, you have a comparison chart that you can use. Ignore what the numbers represent. Call it hedgehog power units instead... The number of engines documented is impressive, to say the least.

In a rc mag it was talking about the mach 427 and what a great engine it is and a good replacement engine for 1/8 scale trucks.
