I have one that I bought off ebay about a year ago I love it, seems to never give me trouble(cross my fingers) but yea its a tough truck and alot of parts can be upgraded from the 5.2 model. I think it might be a little rich on the low side.

Ya, that is running rich. I have the TNX 3.0 Pro version. It's a nice truck. Moves pretty good with the stock .18 engine.

not many ppl have em,, but i got 2 and love em both,, great truck stock engine is a os 18cvr which is a very good motor, easy to tune and great power, and they handle very well,,

only problem is the suspensions,, the stock plastic shocks suck pretty bad,, they leak a lot,, so an aluminum upgrade to the shocks is required,, besides that its a great truck!!

and they are damm easy to work on!! easy cleaning etc....

Its a fast truck and very durable. The down side of this truck is the spur gear problem, it eats spur gears like crazy, some poeple are running the revo spur gear conversion and engine choice is limited unless you want to do some modification. I love mine

I am running the aluminum shocks from the Tnx 5.2, The revo spurgear coversion reqiuires you to pull the tranny apart and remove the stock countershaft and install the revo countershaft. Some drilling and cutting is required for this mod.

I'll say this, tamiya sure missed the boat, on not marketing the TNX .18 more agressively, and having better parts support it is as good or better than any revo. Great handling and very fast and durable.

I've had one for a while now and love it! I haven't broken any parts after about a gallon and a bit. The thing moves really quick also, I'd say it's hard to go wrong with the truck so long as you have access to spare parts.

It originally came with the electric starter, but I switched over to a tiger drive roto start. The eletric starter was bulky and took up to much room. I also wanted more room to run a different fuel tank.

I have one and it used to run great but ever since I let it sit for months it's been problem after problem. The best thing to do would be do the revo spur conversion, get new shocks and the stock tires arent that great either. My starter motor went after about a year and I upgraded to the tigerdrive and like it so far.

Truck looks good. You need to cut a hole in the windshield for cooling though.

There is a real nice pdf file someone put together [link=http://www.tamiyatrucks.com/index.php?ind=downloads&op=entry_view&iden=1]here[/link]. Click on download file when you get there.

I have all the big names in monster trucks and I love the TNX 3.o!

My first love was the savage and it durability. My second love was the performance that a stock tnx has.

I have been bashing it for about 3 years now and aside from tearing the body up and bumpers and breaking off the stock exhaust(many times)...it is going strong. I have just replace the spur gear!!

I have heard people having a lot of spur gear problems but for some reason mine has lasted 3 years! Mine came 1 turn out so I set it the same with the replacement.

Mind you there is some half tank lean, but I just tune it a little bit on the rich side. The OS engine is just plain awesome. Easy to tune and accelerates the tnx with the big blocks!

A lot of 5.2 stuff is carried over from the 3.0 like frame, bulkhead diff clutch bumpers so getting parts cheap on ebay is possible.

The only negative things I can say is... the stock shocks are crap, especially by todays standards. The primer is also a dumb idea. It sticks out waiting to be ripped off. You don't need it and Tamiya should get rid of it!

I have the pro version but even in stock form with the crappy suspension, the tnx rocks.

I would even go as far as saying the TNX 3.0 is still a very competitive platform for racing in spite of all the newer offerings.

Oh, I forgot to mention I did tweak the chassis a little where the engine is mounted. It was out of line about 2mm and drove fine. After some searching I found a new era model 4.7mm thick chassis replacement. It required some dremmeling of the stock frame rails but it looks pretty sweet!

I also have a stock chassis I got off ebay for .99 !!!!

Try and get a revo chassis for that much!!!
