Hi guys!!! I just need to know what is the difference between 23mm hex adapters and 17mm hex adapters.. I am building a race Revo with a O.S. .21 V-Spec Engine and I need to know if there is any advantage of one over the other for racing purposes.. Thanks

17mm is a tad smaller than 23mm anyway the last race revo I built I used an O.S 18, Bowtie's on dish rims, and Ofna 17mm adaptors. IMO all you need are 17mm no need for 23's plus you have way more rim choice's with 17mm

The 17mm are probably going to be better. Less rotating mass, less strain on your axle stubs... and should still be larger enough so they won't strip. I'll be switching from 23 to 17 soon..

Good point about brining up "rotating mass" (moment of inertia). For bashing about, the increased moment of inertia from the 17mm hex and the 23mm hex is negligible, but in a very close competitive raceing where the dirvers are of equal skill, the miniscule moment could be the differentce of a photo finish as two vehicles are struggleing to nose just one inch past the other.

Of course, such racing situations are very very rare at the local track since driving skills vary to a very large degree. Now at a nathional champion ship where all the noobs and novices are weeded out...the drivers will all be culled to the best of the best where all are nearly equal in the best skills possible.

Back to the 23vs17mm hexes: 23mm also has the advantage of excerting more torque on the inner hex of the rim. Additionally, 23mm has the advantage of more surface area on the hex sides. The increase hex side area is the one factor that prevents rim hex stripping. It can take a considerable amount of torque before the rim hexes strip and the adapter hex turns in it.

I've had them for around a year now and nothing has broken on them...? How did you do this?

a track in CA at a proline maxx challenge landed on right rear tire and i hit the straight and my tire started to wobble off i snapped the right rear inner ring and cracked 3 spokes and a week later with a new set i broke the hex off the spokes at another race.
