Default T-Maxx transmition problem

I just bought a used T-Maxx and the transmition is acting funny. First of all I dont think its changing gears. Second it Dons't want to shift into reverse, and if it does, it dosn't want to shift back into forward. Third, it keeps kicking in and out of gear on me, at low speeds. (like in a tight turn)
Now... the servo is pulling the shaft in and out like it is suppose to but, it's just not wanting to kick into gear. I opened the case and found a piece of a spring or corrugated looking wire inside. I called my semi-local hobby shop(1 hour drive) and he said it sounds like part of the one-way bearing, but he couldn't be sure over the phone. I hate to drive an hour, and buy a bearing, that my not be my problem. I was wondering if anyone had a similar problem to this? All of you Maxx experts feel free to chime in here, and help a dummy out! Any tips or help at all is welcome, I don't have a owners manual yet either.

Default shifting

well to get it to shift open that little plug on the top of the tranny and turn the spur gear untell you see a whole with an allen in it turn it about an 1/8 turn counter clockwise or a little bit more if needed. it will lower your shift point so it will be able to shift agen! the allen key should be a 2.0 its not to hard to do, i had to do it when i stuck a 14t clutchbell and a 76t spur gear on my t-maxx 2.5 for a tractor pull truck!!! just make shure your maxx is off when you do that. take it easy. if you need to ge ahold of me to ask my anythin my e-mail address you can reach me at is [email protected].

Default T-Maxx transmition problem

It to late now to try anything, but I will try what punkerboy suggested tomorrow when I get home from work. My one way bearing in the pull start is acting up now. Might have to start a new thread for this one. If anyone has anything to add, just speek up, don't be shy!

Make sure your idle isn't set too high. If you are idling too high forward and reverse won't want to engage. Also you will know when it changes gears, because both gears have a completely different sound....

If you look at part #4988, that is probably where your trouble is. That piece of spring you saw pushes out a little "foot" to engage the trans.
If the other suggestion doesnt pan out, email me for assistance.

I got the file, and its crystal clear! I agree that #4988 looks a little suspicious to me.

Default T-Maxx transmition problem

Ok punkerboy you were right! It shifts most of the time now. I also sprayed out the one way bearing and re oiled. This was the problem of kicking in and out of gear. I think i need to take everything apart, clean it with motor cleaner, lube and reassemble. The inside felt a little gummy. This might help the reverse problem also. What are you supposed to lube them with? It looks like white lithium grease to me. Still haven't figured out what that spring looking thing is. Thanks for everyone help so far!
