Default WHAT'S GOOD HOPUP MOTOR FOR MGT 4.6??

I have the MGT with the 4.6, but I want a stronger engine to put in it. I want a direct drop in, and i want a engine to be reasonably priced but can also make the truck wheely. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You'll be hard pressed to find and engine cheaper and yet as powerful as the LRP Spec 3 .28.

The XTM 457 Pro is also quite powerful and still low in cost.

Personally I've seen an MGT and LST equipped with the LRP Spec3 .28 engine and it has no problem moving those big trucks FAST. Also being made by SH the LRP engine is easier to tune than most.

If you want a italian motor that is even faster then a LRP .28. Check out the Picco .28. $175 with this coupon code. 010T3

Another cheap reliable mill is the Mach 427. Can be found for about $100 on ebay.

the stock TTR28 motor has no problem wheelieing, mine would wheelie in my engine still and its got 14 gallons on it, and big joes.

I just threw a mach 427 in mine, and its a great mill, screams on the top end, and the bottom end is fantastic to, wheelies very easily

Have u got a tuned pipe on it yet? Or stil lthe stock pipe? If u still have the stock pipe then thats why u cant wheelie, its the most crappiest restricting pipe around LOL, and get a FOC as well, with both of these your truck will be flipping on its lid all day

The LRP has awesome power at all rpms. Wheelies are not a problem. The power increase over the stock 4.6 is amazing.

Once tuned you will have the wheels in the air with ease.I hardly have to touch the needles it stays tuned real well.I run one truck for bashing and one for flat out speed and they both scream from the time you nail it nail to top end.

darn, that LRP sounds like the way to go! but yes scottywilkes, I have the stock pipe on it. The engine is still fairl new, as I have only had about 1 1/2 gallons through it, but i've had the truck for two years. i think i'mma shoot for that LRP, but for the mean time, what pipe should I get to go good with the stock engine??

o, and have anyone used the axial .28 engines? at $119 they're hard to beat!!(pricewise anyways).

If you get a tuned pipe you will probably have to get the A.E. side exhaust header because most tuned pipes will be too long to mount in the back (unless you trim the body by the rear wheel) .

I have the tuned pipe from an XTM Mammoth (which was recommended too me by ALOT of MGT owners) and it really woke up the stock TT .28 ! My truck also pulls wheelies with ease .

The Losi LST2 pipe and header also work great with the TT .28 motor but you have to bend the header to get it too fit .

I read somewhere on here that ALL RTR pipes are no good and it's best to get a aftermarket pipe, with that said, a regular xtm mammoth pipe will give the stock engine more power??

so where could I just get a stock mammoth pipe from??

Keep in mind though the Team losi LST2 has one kickass pipe that works well with most engines as well, as the 8ight's, muggy, and LST but not the aftershock or baja.

Axial is a decent motor not really top quality but decent if you don't want to spend much.

Ebay for the pipe

yeah, that was my next question, about those jp-3 pipes. i know they're a lil more expensive, but are those the top of the line? oh, and I seen some vantage carbon fiber pipes. i don't mean to throw out so much stuff, but i really want a good pipe that can get the stock 4.6 moving before i actually buy a whole engine.

people keep tellin me that the 4.6 can pull wheelies easily with a good pipe, and my engine in fairly new, so I wanna get the most out ouf it.
