Default Trouble with 2.5

I am new to rc and have a sportmaxx I have been having trouble with. I followed the break in procedure and now have about 15 tanks of gas through the truck. It seems to be idling at a very high rpm and if I turn the idle down, it dies when I apply the breaks. If I keep the idle up where it does not die, it overheats. I am to the point of looking for a new engine if I can't get it figured out. Any help would be greatly apprecieated. Thanks

I might be able to help you in person sometime if you need it. Where did you get your Sportmaxx from? Nathan or Hobbytown (ICK)

I got it from hobbytown. I had it at Stick and Rudder on the West side and he tuned it for me but the problem presented itself again today. When looking at the carb. and applying throttle and then brake, the slide seems to stick. Is this normal, or is it something that needs to be fixed?
-I heard that their is an indoor track in indy. do you know where?

yah its on the north/eastish side near hobbytown, its called Planet RC.

www.planetrcraceway.com

There ya go mate, jus go there to practice on nitro days, and I'm sure somebody there will help you tune your car. They even have an MT class (what you would race tmaxx in)

so then it would be your linkage....adjust your linkage so that that spring is being pushed just enough to close the carb and then have enough room for when you apply the brakes.

Thanks for all your help. I think I am going to try to make it to Planet RC and see if I can get some help. Is there any day that would be better than another to go. Do you have a phone number for them??? I will mess around with my linkage and see what I can do. Thanks again
-has anyone heard of anyone with the 2 speeds for the sport maxx in stock?

Another major thing is your setscrew.. it controls how much your carb closes.. open it up a little so your engine doesnt die when your apply full brake!

Yeah go there.. its much better than reading about it.

There are so many other dynamic variables when it comes to tuning:

temperature..fuel..sound..weather conditions etc

Hands on is the way to go!
