Default Kyosho Mad Force

I'm thinking of getting a monster truck and really like the Kyosho Mad Force. Anybody have any experience with these? I want solid axles and nitro don't see a whole lot of choices. Thanks

Once of the coolest trucks I have ever owned. It doesn't handle as well as independent suspension trucks and it isn't a track truck for sure. With that said, with the 3 speed and solid axles it is a complete blast. I have one and I would recommend getting one to anyone. They are very tough too.

Parts availability can be a little tricky and pricey- that would be my only complaint.

Here is my Mad Force.

I really like that...who's got a good deal on those in the States?

BTW, LOVE those wheels, Dale. What size hex are they?

I loved my Mad Force. If you get it, go look at http://www.neweramodels.com/item.cgi...=&part_id=1620 because the arms tend to flex in a manner that'll pop the drive shafts out. Never do damage, but it sucks putting them back in ever run. Now I hear that this problem was somewhat fixed, but I had one of the early versions, so I don't know about that.

Another thing to look into is parts availability. I think it's picked back up, but for a while Kyosho's distribution was a train wreck. It'd take my hobby shop 3 weeks to get a part. And since I was the only guy with a Mad Force, I didn't blame him for not stocking. :P

But as for the truck itself, it's a blast. It won't handle near as well as a independant truck (thus why I race a revo) but between the weight and 3-speed, the thing flies for having an RTR .21 engine. But I do love driving straight axle trucks. They are a bit of a handful, but that's what makes them fun.

These wheels are a weird Kyosho proprietary 19 or 20 mm hex. They do have adapters though that adapt 14mm hexes to fit them. I will see if I can find part numbers later.

Proud Mad Force owner. Unfortunately, mine is out of commission at the moment because of a messed up needle valve. I have another one new in box, but I don't feel like building it.

Thanks, that pretty well settles it, as soon as I have the money I'll buy it. my LHS sells the mad force and stocks parts, but keeps trying to sell me the Savage telling me it will be a better racer. I keep telling him I don't want to race. I do have some pretty cool hills in my woods that should be fun to climb.

Wait.. your LHS is trying to sell you a SAVAGE as a BETTER RACER?

I'd say the Mad Force and XTM truck are about the only things a Savage would beat in a race. And even then, I think the Force would give it a run for it's money...
