Default tranny problems (i think??)

hey guys, i was driving my stampede vxl yesterday when all of a sudden it stopped moving. I went inside and took it apart to find that the spur and pinon gears were both moving when i used the throttle. I then took apart the transmission for the first time and I think i found the problem. One of the gears was missing the peice to prevent it from sliding on the shaft. So i have two questions 1. what is the peice called and can i get it at a hardware store and 2. do you guys think that my theory is right or could it be something else, like i said its my first time opening the tranny and im hoping its one of the last because it makes me nervous and stressed out. thanks for the help this site is very helpful and ive been learning a lot.

You might find something at the hardware store that will work . Take the top shaft with you and look .

You wouldn`t need a new tranny , just the pin .

I just checked the manual for my nephews Stampede and the part number is 3793 which is the shaft and pin .

Well from the pic it looks like you are missing the pin that holds the metal gear in place on the top shaft . That is the only gear that needs something to stay in place .
