savage or revo both are fine can't go wrong with either. The revo has the edge in almost everything but the savage is stronger. If it was me I would get the savage X 4.6, because it you get the xl you would be better off with the lst2 IMO[&:]. I like the bigger trucks and the revo is small next to my lst2 mgt or savage x.

tuning is no problem for the savage 4.6 can't speak for the 5.9. IMO you don't need that engine I'm sure a picco .28 lrp spec 3 .28 would eat up the 5.9. I think it's just something to get you to buy it. bigger engine more fuel and $30 a gallon I would say stay small.

Run times are so close on the 5.9 and the 4.6 it is unreal. The 5.9 has a flat spot in the upper mid range that is very hard to tune out. Even with that though, it will run hard. The XL is much nicer to drive, comes with the three speed, heavier dogbones and axles, a hump pack battery, and a longer and wider wheelbase. It is much more stable and seems to glide over dips the make my X do endos. The taller Terra Pins have tremendous bite and do a good job on the Xl, it is well worth the additional money.
The X is impressive though, I bought a 4.6 RTR off of Ebay when some seller had 30 trucks closing within the same hour. I am pretty impressed with the X's performance.

I have eight Savages, all converted now to the XL length and width except the one 4.6 RTR. The only mechanical issue I have found is that when running a tall gear ratio behind the Picco the final drive in third gear explodes.
XL bone on top...
XL axle compared to X axle...
I have not heard of anybody breaking an XL bone or axle, they did a great job of beefing up their truck. Bud

well ive heard that the bigger the engine the better it holds its tune so the xl with the 5.9 is probly better than the x 4.6
