my dad has one and it is FAST. ST1 is right the chassis doses flex too much. he took it out to the track and landed on the rear wheels off a 6 foot jump and the chassis bent so if you are going to jump it real high I would not get it. the xtm 247 engine is reliable as hell and would last you a long time if you take care of it.

The Mammoth is a great truck with a few problems. First you need to get some braces made or buy some from [link=http://rcvisions.net/STtowerbrace.html]RC Visions[/link]
Then maybe some hinge pin retainers from the same guys.
Just so you know, they have been discontinued but parts support is still around for a while. XTM has a new truggy called XST and its everything the Mammoth should of been. Good bracing, shorter, and low to the ground. Very very nice. I checked one out and fell in love.

The Mammoth series is a pretty nice line of trucks, only problems are parts availability and some flaws. As mentioned, there is a ton of chassis flex on the original models. Dadders or the other suggested braces are suggested. The hinge pin retainers are needed as well, also these trucks are very fast bone stock. The stock engine is one of the most easy to tune ones you can buy. Other than that its a far truck, your choice[8D],

O.K. i want ot jump on this one. When i first started getting into nitro trucks and cars i jumped on the XTM bandwagon. To me they was the best nitro trucks and cars outthere. But as i learned they were plagued with problems. Well i own 5 XTM products right now. I bought th Mammoth the day it hit the hoobyshop shelf. I beat the hell out of this truck and yes it did break, 99% my fault. The gears kept stripping and i finally got that straight. But i swapped the 24.7 out for a Picco .27. Now that was some power change. The point i'm trying to make is that at first XTM maybe not so good products at first, " X-FACTOR" i own one. But they came around and started making good products. I think the Mammoth is a good truck, i put a roll cage on mine so i didn't see any chassis flex. That being said i own 12 nitro r/c cars and trucks with 5 being XTM products. I think the Mammoth is worth the money with a few upgrades.

Nah, if you are going for a Mammoth, you want the pro kit. That is the true king of MT/ST/Truggy godlikeness.
Mine is my favourite RC, the CNC work is exquisite, all the issues of the ST were fixed and it's the fastest thing this side of fastness.

I have a Mammoth ST. It's fast. Good 24.7 engine got to say. But every time I run the truck, something breaks. I still got the truck, just that it's not gonna be used anymore, since spending so much on parts.
But the Mammoth ST Pro is a lot better I had to say, but XTM is making a XST, it's kind of like a small version of the Mammoth ST.

Well I got an Xst on the road yesterday and the general attitude of the truck is far better than the Mammoth on pavement. It weighs less and the level LCG is much better. Will be back with more in the next week or so when we do some add ons and tweaking. Don't kick something to the curb till you own it, because you may just be stubbing your toe

I doubt it is better on road than my old mammoth ST 2 speed. Not many MTs have a CG better than this... And thanks for the comments on the Pro, there's a couple more pics for you.

Well with 2 Xst's on the ground I'm sold on its potential, few as in very few mods and its not far away from the S Truggy, Lighter tires shorter wheel base with the same width as a Mammoth with almost a 1/2 inch lower LCG..........Hope I get a chance before long to power one up with some different shocks and a 457 Pro

I must agree-my XST w/14T cb handles everything! I burn my boy w/his XTS buggy, & we're runnin' tha same lineup! He has less weight. Breakin' n ur engine has alot to do with it as well, nmop. Iv'e just purchased the Mammoth kit as well-I plan on doin big things with it, but i plan to go bigger than a 457-not that thats a sleeper engine by n e means! Its a beast. Al n all, i plan to leave my XST as is to run on the track, & build my mammoth n2 a MAMMOTH, for str8 bashin' & walkem' dwn asskickin'!!
