A new beast. Meet, the Electric MGT! (56k, run!) Update!
Well, I, after absolutely loving Nitro for years, decided to switch to a quieter source of power. I went Brushless! It took over 8hrs of work, but it was worth it.
So here is my MGT with non-expensive yet awesome stuff. No Quark this, and Mamba that, no, all this for $350!!![X(]
I've ran it, it has crazy power and nice top speed. It fried the slipper setup I've ran an Axial .28 and the stock TTR .28 for over 8 gallons with, within about 1-2min of running. lol
I hope to have a vid up soon with it and ferrariowner123's MGT.
It's running an 8t 2300kv Brushless motor with a Turnigy 100Amp ESC(caught on fire, going to get HexTronic 120a) and it's all powered by a Zippy-R 4800mah 5S LiPo battery with electronics ran off the battery with a hexTronic UBEC. As others have done, I made it so my motor would NOT brake the truck as this is very hard on the ESC, but rather, my mechanical brake on my transmission would by using the channel mixing function on my Spektrum tx. There's a vid lower showing how that works.
Here are the vids I've made since completion
Test runs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgYcA8L52gU
Speed runs (kinda, need more space)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPhlafsJyxM
Questions or comments???
To show how my mixing works, watch this. My steering servo saver stopped the wheels from turning...

Just to show it works... Crappy vid, but you can here it (as if you hadn't heard an elec before.)
http://s144.photobucket.com/albums/r...t=MOV05105.flv
And after a bit of running, the slipper fried. I though it was funny.
http://s144.photobucket.com/albums/r...t=MOV05113.flv
I got a rustler in the process too... hehe
Thanks for looking, sorry for the dl times...

That motor looks to be to small and has to high of a kv rating for your 1/8. The kv rating that is recomended is around 1900kv with an XL can. Anything less size and higher kv rating that that will heat up fast. Unless Im mistaken that might be a KB-45. If so you might be able to make it threw with using that.

Are you using the 2 speed or did you lock it in 2nd gear ? Pretty cool for a "budget" setup .
Doesnt seem too cog at all , How come you are using the stock slipper ? No RRP slipper ?

I should be getting around an hour run times (I think)... And the motor mount is HEAVY. Galvanized steel. lol
I hope to have that ESC on that other plate I made, but I have to make extensions for the wire going from the ESC to motor which means more resistance. I can't decide wether to leave the ESC on the tranny or move it to the plate...
As far as the motor, I was going to buy an 8XL motor with 1600kv, but I've read where some guy used this motor in his 14lb savage, so I figured it would work ok. It hasn't got too hot yet. Besides, 1600kv is too slow I know I could gear it up, but I didn't want too. IDK why.
If I can find a more suited motor, like a 1900kv 8-9XL, then I'll buy one to see how it works out. Hopefully I don't have to change too much...
As far as the tranny goes, I'm still using the 2-speed.
I am having one problem though, when I pull the trigger, the truck goes slowly for about .5sec, then takes off like a - well, you know... I have to work out the bugs still, but this thing has tons of power. I'm never pulled wheelies in dirt before!!!

You wont get anywere near an hours runtime unless you have a 12000mah pack or more. The KB's draw alot of current. I would expect around 15-20mins max.

If I were you, I suggest removing the stock transmission, getting a new right plastic side guard, and put an E-Maxx tranny in the chassis, and have all that space for batteries and the ESC. Would be pretty amazing then.

Huh. Another guy who gave me the idea had a 5000mah pack and said he was getting amazing run times. I've yet to kill the batt, so IDK what the times are yet...
As far as the tranny, I'm not interested in getting into too much modification. I've had enough for a while. Maybe later...

Trust me woth a KB45 and a 5000mah pack you will get knowhere near an hours worth of runtime. You'd be lucky to get 20mins flat on constant mid-speed ranges.

Haha, neither. The ESC is a Turnigy 100a, and the Motor is a KB-45 8L.
They're the farthest things from Traxxas and Losi. You need two of those setups to equal this...[8D]
And Takedown, you're correct! After just about 20min of driving, my batts are charging to over 3500mah and climbing!!![X(] I guess I'm used to a 3000mah 7.2v running my Evader EXT for 20+min.[]

Some quick speed runs, until the 2nd speed gear broke. I need an 8.0 tranny... More $$$!!!

RE: A new beast. Meet, the Electric MGT! (56k, run!) Update!
After installing my new 8.0 transmission and FOC and the goods, the truck worked awesome! Perfect shifting, power straight to the wheels, and no stripping!
Then, I went to ferrariowner123's house, and everytime I go there, something on my truck catastrophically fails, and this time was no exception. THE ESC CAUGHT FIRE! So, on to get a better ESC, a HexTronic 120amp... And maybe a refund.[:@]
It was cool seeing a flame inside the body though.

Nice conversion bro! Seems to run great. Good to hear you got the tranny probs fixed. Now you just need to stay away from ferarri hahaha :P
