What would the ULTIMATE savage have????
All right boys and girls, here is a question for you all. What would the ultimate HPI savage have on it? What i am looking for is, what hop-ups, upgrades, or replacements parts would you add to you savage if money was not an issue. Please explain yourself wether it be for speed, looks, or off road performance. If you have tried something and it didnt work, let me know that too. Hope this generates some ideas for all the savage fans out there. If you have a picture of a cool savage you would like listed on my site, email me at [email protected] and i will post it to my site www.scalehobbies.com . Be sure to zip your files.
Thanks
Matt

I don't own one but if I did,
It would look something like this! This thing has a big .26 in it as well!

Well, the motor would definitely be the picco .26. I ported the stocker, then used Ofna's hyper 21 8 port, but the picco .26 is the best by far.
High rpm's and great torque.

stock savage.
upgraded drivetrain, brakes, servos and steering.
picco .26 with 3 shoe clutch.
new shiney rims with good tires for the track.
I think thats about all you need to do
for a show truck?
all metal. go aluminium. (dont need alloy as its a show truck) not purple because purple is overdone.
maybe red.
then top it with a custom painted dodge ram body and booya hottest truck on the block.

Its a shelf queen, bashing would destroy that thing. All aluminum is a waste if you actually want to have fun with your truck.

What would the ULTIMATE savage have????
My dream Savage would have an oversized RB .28 cu.inch C6 engine and full RB0 086 Cart pipe line. Well, for now, I'll keep my C5 LoL
Rotostart would be a must. No reverse module.
Then it would have a full carbon fiber chassis and loads of Ti parts.
Only a very slight amount of quality 7075 T6 alum parts, like shock towers, lighweights gears and stuff like that will keep the rotating mass at minimum level.
It would keep most of the plastic parts.
Finally it will have a set of super light racing Proline bowtie on deep off-set velocity rims. The last racing SportTraxx racing tire as spare.
The weight to power ration will be the highest off all Monster truck. R&B C6 should pump-out around 3.5 hp and the Sav overall weight will be kept slightly under 10 pounds (not dream'in here, I now I will be on this targeted weight soon)
All in all, it would KILL any Monster Truck on the handling, perf (accel and top speed) dpt and would survive the most extreme bashing, jumping and trashing.
In fact I am already working on my R&B Savage racer and getting closer to that setup day after day
Tips: I might even surprise you with a brand new Savage layout and setup that will correct most of the bugs and problems the Savage has.
It might even be available in a shop near you sooner than you expect

What would the ULTIMATE savage have????
HPI Savage.
Kippster Dogbones.
RB Concepts Buggy Filter.
RB Concepts 086 1-piece Pipe.
RB Concepts WS7II w/ Pullstart Mod or
Trinity Sirio .27 Racer.
Mugen MBX Clutch w/ Aluminum Shoes.
SuperMaxx Alien Rims w/ HPI Dirt Bones Tires.
Diff. Gear Mod.
Futaba 3PJ.
Some 200+oz Steering Servo.
And some fast servo.
Probably a version like DFF said with a weaker engine.
Hey DFF, what do you use to start your C5?

My rotostart Why ?
BTW, I did the pull start conversion myself and used the p/s of my .21BB engine. As a consequence, the rotostart fits like a charm !
I believe I am the only one that run a C5 rotostart because usually, C5 p/s conversion are done using the 8 port p/s (not compatible with the rotostart)
Below, my C5 with R&B air filter, Fiorini sliding shoes cltuch with the .21BB p/s fitted with the rotostart (hard to see, it's @ the back of engine, but you can kind of see parts of it...)

What would the ULTIMATE savage have????
I didn't think th Rotostart could turn over a C5 .. Right now I'm thinking about an engine to buy once I get my Savage. Picco/Ofna .26 (Seal it up), .27 Sirio Racer P/S, or S7 w/ UE P/s mod but since the Rotostart works on your C5, I might try that on the S7/WS7II.
I heard RB engines are easy to tune. Is it easy enough for a Newbie to Nitro to use that follows instructions?
Edit: And how did you get he .21BB P/S on there? Did you have to make anything custom?

Yes, the conversion isn't an easy task and I would not recommend trying it if you don't have a milling machine and the right drill bit.
Crank material is so hard, the only drill that works is a one piece carbide drill with Ti surface threatment and it must have as well special cutting angle to go inside 1100 HRc (hardness) material.
Other than that, you need to modify as well the .21BB pull start flywheel (turn it down slightly)
