Which gear are you talking about?
The clutch bell or the pinion? (pinion? spur?! AHH!).
The clutch bell WILL turn freely since the clutch is not engaged.
The pinion shouldnt exactly be wobbly.

I think he is referring to the spur gear. Is it large (and in charge, sorry ) and you can replace it at your local hobby shop. Call around and see who stocks Traxxas Spur gears. You want a 72T spur gear if it is the problem. Make sure you set the gear mesh right when you put it back (only if you move the engine).
Also, how well are you at tuning?

well i think most of the 2.5 not all but most dont run right anyways and i musta got one of the bad ones cus i am pretty good at tunning seeing how this is my 5 nitro motor and i am using a temp gage to tune it it always tries to overheat befor it has the power it should so i just run it to freeken rich so i dont have the power and i can affored a new motor cus im only 16 and its not easy to save up and buy the truck itself.

The spur gear set-up on a T-Maxx will wobble sometimes because of the "friction pegs" they are not always the same length, and when new, the spur gear is floating on these pegs, so to speak. The pegs are slightly longer than the width of the spur gear hub. Once you have one apart, you can figure it out. It's actually a bad design. If you leave it loose enough to slip under severe loads, light landing from a jump, etc. it will usually wind up slipping when you don't want it to. I've smoked 2 or 3 spur gears, as they started slipping, and melted the center out, before I figured out what was going on. You usually have to tighten the adjusting nut down all the way.

If your spur gear dosen't wobble on a T-maxx, it is because you have the slipepr all the way down(or your slipper pegs are different lengths like stated above), so basically if you aren't using your slipper, your truck will do wheelies, crank down that screw to tighten your slipper all the way... then you should be able to do wheelies. because those 2.5 motors should be able to lift it up, if not, maybe there is a manufacture problem, and get in touch with Traxxas, they are Really good in their customer service, maybe they will help you out.

So thats why they wobble.
I thought it was because when it wobbled it covered the extra space in the cluchbell since it is fatter. But then I really never paid much attention to it since it worked fine.
