if you didn't break the spring it isn't that hard you only need three to six inches of pull to start it.don't try when it flooded either. take plug out turn upside down and pull 5times.

roto start is a 7.2 volt self contained unit that uses a .25 dia hex rod turned with a taper that has a dog bone on the end. simply remove the existing starter assembly bolt on the new starter unit that is provided no mod to the truck insert the dogbone into the starter and fly!!!!!!

I BROKE MINE THE FIRST DAY I HAD MY SAVAGE. TRY TO FIX IT FIRST BECAUSE THE ROTO START WITH CHARGER AND BATTERY IS ABOUT $70.00. IT WILL TAKE ABOUT AN HOUR TO DO. PULL THE REAR END OFF YOUR TRUCK WHICH IS ABOUT TWELVE SCREWS AND SHOCKS. THEN TAKE YOUR PULL START OFF WITH THREE ALLEN SCREWS. THEN THERE IS ONE SCREW ON THE BACK OF YOUR PULL START. PULL THE BACKING PLATE OFF. THEN YOUR RECOILOR BUT TRY AND KEEP YOUR SPRING INSIDE THE HOUSING BY USING A SMALL SCREW DRIVER IN THE CENTER OF THE RECOILOR. RETIE THE PULL START AND WHEN YOU PUT THE RECOILOR BACK IN YOU MIGHT HAVE TO BEND THE END OF SPRING TO LINEUP WITH YOUR SLOT ON THE RECOILOR. PUT THE BACKING PLATE ON AND THE ONE SHEET METAL SCREW AND TRY IT OUT. IF EVERYTHING IS FINE PUT IT BACK ON AND YOUR DONE. IF YOU CAN'T GET IT DONE, THEN BUY THE ROTO START. REMEMBER THE ROTO START IS $45.99 AND THE BATTERY AND CHARGER ARE ABOUT $23.00 PLUS SHIPPING. IT DOESN'T HURT TO TRY.

i really don't know why everyone hates pullstarts so much...; man my truck fires on like 3 pulls MAX... if you break your engine in right and have the settings right, it is easy as pie.
