what will changing spur gears do?
 
I am looking at my Tmaxx and it has a 76 tooth spur gear...

I think stock is a 72 tooth spur gear...

So if I change it back to a 72 tooth, what will that do....?

I want to think that going to a smaller spur gear will increase speed, and decrease power (but I'm not sure)... is that correct?

Thats correct, But dropping only four teeth on a spur gear shouldn't make much difference. You may notice a little difference in torque.

smaller spur gear - more top speed, less acceleration
larger spur gear - more acceleration, less top speed

smaller pinion gear - more accleration, less top speed
larger pinion gear - more top speed, less acceleration.

You wont notice much of a change with that little of a change in gear ratios.

Actually, terminator 3, reducing the size of the spur gear will lower your acceleration and increase your top speed. To get more acceleration you either have to increase the size of the spur gear or reduce the size of the clutch bell, or both!

i went 4 teeth larger on my spur gear(i have a savage),what a difference! i don't understand why people want top end out of their MT?isn't that what road cars are for?
