is swiching fuels bad for an engine?

I haven't had any troubles because of it. I have used 4 different fuels in my TRX 2.5 and it has lasted me through 7 gallons. On test and tune night (track bashing) we switch fuels so much it's silly. What ever is in the nearest fuel bottle is what goes in the tank, anything to keep from having to restart the engine.

No, switching can actually be good. just pay attention to what you are running now, and don't go to a lower quality fuel. I run HPI fuel right now, which is made by wildcat fuels. you can email them to find out where they distribute in your area.

One thing you will need to watch is the amount of Nitro in the fuel. If you get used to running your truck on 20% and switch to 10% you will notice a performance differance. so try to at least keep to the same Nitro %

i did hear running airplane fuel is good and keeps the engine cooler... coolpower is airplane fuel, right? bigjdubb props for getting 7 gallons out of ur engine.

What is the overall deffierence between airplane fuel and truck fuel? I was looking into getting coolpower 20% for my tmaxx
Didn't realize it might be airplane fuel.

The differance is oil content
2-stroke airplane fuel usually has at least 18% oil
Heli fuel 20% oil
Car fuel has 10-12% oil (race blends)

Car engines run from 30,000-40,000 rpms
Airplane engine around 15,000-18,000 tops (4-strokes less)

The airplne fuel will let the engine run cooler but a lot slower, the high oil content will want to bog the engine and not let it reach top rpms. It will last a lot longer though

Hey thanks alot that clears it up. So with airplane fuel you would have a larger build-up of oil in the engine too right?
