RE: track design

I'm gonna have to say too many turns for a monster truck track. I've raced on several tracks with a Savage and I've always felt like they were just modified stadium tracks. You can never get much speed up, not much in terms of jumps, turns come up on your out of the blue and very sharp.

My personal favorite aspect of a off road track is change in elevation. Low parts and high parts of a track really take it to a new level, provided you have a high place for your drivers to stand. If you need inspiration take a look at a local BMX track, which are loaded with jumps. You'll also see each jump that goes up also has a transition or landing jump for the truck to come down on. You don't want the truck to just slap down onto the ground, you loose speed and can mess up the truck that way, plus it involves more driver skill to match up the landing, a trigger finger will put you over and a slow truck will case it and 'prolly flip.

Try to make another design focused more on the fact that you have very large trucks moving around a track and you don't want to turn one section into a traffic jam so small everyone has to follow single file through. It's just not fun. Passing is part of winning, always plan on more than one truck at a time to be next to each other on your track. I look forward to your next revision. :)

RE: track design

Yea man, i think you're getting it backwards a bit. The ultimate jumping machine is definitely a buggy, what with their long travel suspension, light weight, and insane power-to-weight ratio.

Monster trucks are large and slower, but can get though tougher stuff and larger obstacles because of the larger tires.

The track is looking a bit better I think, it's kinda confusing to look at. From already building one large dirt track I would say to just go out there are start digging. Put in what next you'd like to drive over with your truck, make it up as you go because in the end even with a plan it won't look much like what you thought. Especially if it's just for you and a few friends to go driving out back in the woods, not for some RC club or anything. You'll be doing a lot of changes once it's "finished" as lots of jumps will be too large/small or turns will be too narrow so don't put the shovels away once your track is built.

Oh, and find some friends, because jumps and tracks take a LOT of dirt. You'll be out there for hours. :)

well the ppl who designed it wanted speed so they canceled jumps:( anyway i just go there to race and i go to the other track for fun ill post some pics of it later [8D]
