Winter Storage ? ?

For those that do not run their Nitro Vehicles in the Winter, where do you keep vehicle?

I would like to keep mine inside my house were it's nice and warm, but no room. They have to stay in the garage were it gets a little chilly sometimes.

under the bed, just after run the engine really well and make sure theres no fuel in the fuel tnak, and unplug your fuel lines and your good for the winter season storage

I was thinking about putting my OFNA GTP under my bed, but it wouldn't fit.

I guess I'll try to stuff it in my closet.

Put it up on blocks too. Put something under the chassis so the shocks are fully extended & the tires are off the ground. Also remove batteries from the reciever & radio.

I read a post somewhere in this forum were someone suggested wrapping the cooling head with aluminum foil to help bring the temp of the engine up faster. I never tried that.

RE: Winter Storage ? ?

tyler during break in, engine temp is critical..

http://img58.exs.cx/img58/3217/mam4800x600.jpg
I did that to my cooling head to stop the snow from cooling it down. for breaking it in you could just put tin foil around the cooling head and dont get snow on it, make sure it stays in the 200temp range and no lower. id say 220 is good but thats me. if its real cold outside you can do what i did using a sandwhich method. but dont go over 270.

break in during winter? HEL YA!

RE: Winter Storage ? ?

oh ya if u drive in the snow tin foil will NOT be enough. ur engine will never get hot with just foil in the snow

wow, thats an interested picture.

ok but here I know this has been stated several times but lets think of this as a review.

1. ALWAYS CLEAN THE CAR FRONT TO BACK!!!
this is very important, and its also a good way to get too know the assembly of your car. so go through everthing, transmittion, diffs. and even clean of those tires. get it all looking new.
2. PUT IT UP ON BLOCKS
put the car up on blocks for petes sack! man you need this to happen. you can use anything wood blocks books, cd cases, anything but get the car sitting so the wheels are off the ground, this is so the shocks are fully extended!
3. AFTER RUN OIL
take off that glow plug and take off that air filter and push that stuff in the motor so no rust becomes a problem. lubricate that babby. hobbico makes so reliable agter run oil. WD-40 workd great to.
4. REMOE ALL GAS LINES
take them off of the engine. sont go putting them on. expecialy after you after oiled your engine. you dont want some more gas to run in! that would suck.
5. KEEP INSIDE
if you dont have a place in a room or basement then make one. in a cabinet, under the sink, on the shelf in the dining room, in the closet, ect. dont leave the car outside. it is not good for it. the plastic will get brital and begen to crack!

What is the purpose of this?

unload the suspension... i doubt it can make flat spots like a car can... imo u dont really need to iv had cars sit for multiple years under the the bed and they came out fine

RE: Winter Storage ? ?

I have my vehicles sitting off the ground, but didn't know what the purpose was. I did it through hear say.

**MilkMachine** 12-06-2004 07:49 PM

RE: Winter Storage ? ?

exactly what ^^he^^ said. it takes all the load off the suspention so the shocks come out of the closet the way you put them in. you dont want your shocks to be under stress for a whole season, expecialy on a monster truck. but on a touring car your a little safer because on most cars the shocks dont flex when put on the ground because of the smallness of them.

when ever i am not driving my mammoth he sits on top on my computer tower. fits wonderfully. chassis is supported and all 4 wheels hang :D

RE: Winter Storage ? ?

thats a good idea to support the car whith the tires of the ground. but with me that would get in my way because im on my computer alot more then i should be!
