Hpi Savage 21!!

Have you guys checked out the new HPI Savage 21??? This truck looks like it will be a hit!

It is a 1/8th scale truck with a 21 engine and features some serious fatory installed upgrades!

Don't know about you, but I hate buying a TMAXX and then have to completely go through it to make it track ready!

I think I will put my name on the waiting list for one!!

These trucks will be shipping in Early Nov.

This truck is 2" wider and longer than the TMAXX and is built to take the extra power of the 21 engine!

Check out HPI for all the details.

Savage

The Savage is an awesome looking truck. Anyone looking to buy a new truck should give the Savage strong consideration. Disregard the new T-Maxx, a clone of the old version, basically.

it looks like if it is going to flip over alot

Haldir 10-23-2002 07:56 PM

Not really

I have seen the videos at the HPI website, it's very stable, fast, and flies like an airplane. Check out the videos:

My only suspect area that I can see in the pics are the shocks, which look like pencils with springs wrapped around them :(

I am really considering buying the savage also...First reason would be because of its frame design and that comes with a .21 engine....

I was amazed by the videos as well......

savage

the savage is a looks good truck but if you look at the angle of the shocks it has a lot of stability on road but you go for the big jumps for buggies and uped maxxes your asking for a couple of spare shock sets. maybe if you land sideways too much you'll
be fine but for us god-like, high fly, hard flat landing jumpers, the truck is a much unnessesary investment. to tell the truth i would buy one for the sake of an onroad race truck cus on road the shocks could kill the maxxes by far

I cant comment on the truck specifically but I can vouch for the quality and strength of HPI products, they are excellant and hard to beat so you probably wont go wrong with the truck.

Savage

Well I talked to HPI yesterday and customer service told me if I wasn't' already on a list that it could be as long as 4 to 5 months before I get a truck. He said they have 4,000 fixing to go out and they are already sold. Any body have any ideas. I have money buring a hole in pocket waiting on a Savage. Anything else out there in the 1/8 scale with 21 motor and tires and body will also fit the t-max. I have a 2.5 t-max and that is one of the reason I want the Savage is I can swap stuff out (wheels and bodies).

scale only 4 me 11-01-2002 03:24 PM

Sweet bod!!

Seam unfair to compare the Savage to a T-maxx, It's so much bigger
I think the shocks, if you look closely are more like 1/8 scale shocks in diamiter, they just look small on such a big truck. How the perform at that angle? we'll have to see. if stiff enough, the may work well?

What I like best on the HPI site is that new El Camino body!!
Sweet!! gona get one for my T-maxx when they get off the boat.

Darn dock workers/cry babies :(

The best "truck only" RTR price I could find was Tower Hobbies at $419.00......

well i have my savage and all I can say is WOW!
this thing is quite beefy the shocks look thin in the pics but are quite thick in person and the shafts are stainless steel, it is very difficult to roll this truck it will not wheelie with the stock engine. drop in a ofna .25 or xtm .247 and it will wheelie with the stock gearing. and yes someone has already done it just waiting on the vids for visual confirmation. and heres a pic of mine
