RE: collari 32 vs sure fire 32?

Seems I read somewhere on here that allot of people with the collari 32 have been having problems with the engine loosing compression after 1 gallon or less. I have no opinion on the SF. I would get something like an OS 30 if looking for a bigger engine, from personal ecperience the Picco 27 performed like a champ in my LST at a budget price.

There are several threads on this subject [link=http://www.lstcentral.com//modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=11]HERE.[/link]

From all I've read, the SF .32 blows everything else out of the water, including the Collari and O.S. There's even some video of it in action on that site.

That SF .32 will be my next engine.

the NovaRossi 28 8 port blows the SF 32 out of the water, the Nova 28 is the most powerful big block you can buy

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to mention this engine in a thread regarding the SF.32 and Collari .32, in this case it was the fourth post. :D

No one would argue your point, you are correct, but in a discussion regarding Corvette's you are talking Maserati.

RE: collari 32 vs sure fire 32?

Important points on the Collari .32 are the exhaust leakage with a standard header. It took me a while to figure that out. You may think you are getting a good seal but I sure didn't until I started using a ~.12-.15 exhaust seal and the Collari header that comes with their pipe and header set. If you have really lost compression in less than a gallon, that's not what I experienced, it took 4, but I was having a exhaust leak that was causing it to get hot and hard to start and idle. Werks has incredible support!!

Collari latest batch of the .32 engines include some refinements to the roto starting system that from testing they have seen approximately a 20-25% reduction in spool time for the engine. This basically equates to the engine accelerating around 20% faster. This is straight from the very nice and helpful rep from Werks who hangs out over at lstcentral. These improvements will be sold in a kit form for existing owners.

I like the composite carb and a standard exhaust header seems to work well on the SF .32 along with a Savage engine roto-starter. It also has 8 ports. I don't have one but the video looks impressive. I've heard there will be a SF .32/Collari .32 drag race posted over at lstcentral sometime in the next month or so, that should be interesting. :D

i asked same question while ago and i got answers

now i read this and i dont c 1 2 :)

i heard colari have some cranshaft problems ( LHS info)

SF 32 looks little cheap for me

forget about that i dont understand why novarossi with less hp would beat SF or collari but i wknow i can buy at least 2 engines for 1 nova

SH 28 is really impresive and im not sure if its wortk change foe any better

god why did you made me maried lst ?

no anwers nessesary

RE: collari 32 vs sure fire 32?

well nitrodyne systems has dynoed a SF 32 a STS 28 and a Top 28.the Top 28 cleans house by a big margine, then the sure fire and followed very closely is the STS 28.............but the LRP Spec2 will likely outgun both the STS and the SF 32, or at least according to people who own both a STS and a SF............but you must remember these dynoes are done with generic tuned pipes, a good tuner will be able to tweak a header pipe combo to acheive different results......as tuned pipe plays a big role in 2 stroke engine power

2DMaxLST!! 12-22-2005 11:36 AM

RE: collari 32 vs sure fire 32?

Actually they run a Novarossi 9886 one piece tuned pipe (not a bad pipe at all) and the OS .30 tested with spec's in between the SF .32 and Nova, Nova on top.

OS .30 tested at 1.8hp/74.88oz/in. I have the OS .30 and the lowend is just not there like on the Collari's.

supertib 12-22-2005 12:11 PM

RE: collari 32 vs sure fire 32?

one thing about tuned pipes is the fact that there is no one general good pipe...what works like a charm on one motor will not work the same on another...so that pipe may suit the Nova very well but actualy hinder the STS 28.......I know my 24/7 pro was a dog with the ribbed and a monster with the GH single......there was a huge difference in power..yet the ribbed works very well with alot of other engines..........

there are guys who have both the OS 30 and the LRP Spec 2 and they say the Spec 2 is a fair bit more powerful.......so I would predict the Spec 2 is likely very close to the Nova...........the New SH 28 Pro is the same as the Spec 2.......

And for once, it wasn't me!!![8D]

Every manufacturer has their own method of rating horsepower. Since they are all different, they cannot be trusted, or at the very least, be used as a comparison spec. In other words, just because brand x claims 2.9 hp, and brand y claims 2.5, doesn't mean that brand x is more powerful. This is why I was so happy to see a comparison of engines that were run on the same dyno (in another thread). Some sort of standardization of testing would really shed some light on this subject.

Also, the Nova .28 is around $350 and the SF is about $200 (US $), so to say that you could buy 'at least 2' is an exaggeration. I admit that a $350-400 engine is a hard pill to swallow, but if you can afford it you wont be sorry.

RE: collari 32 vs sure fire 32?

Very true on the pipes supertib.

I'm kicking myself for buying the OS .30!! I acutally was on Tower wanting to use one of their wonderful coupons to get the LRP (I wanted a kick butt .28 to race standard monster truck class) but it was not in stock so in a moment of weakness I bought the OS .30. It's just not got the mojo, it's built well with some nice features and is ok for bashing, but so far no where near what I expected. The article on the OS .30 in issue #122 of Xtreme R/C pretty much spells it out......

RE: collari 32 vs sure fire 32?

i saw nova 28 with 8 ports moddded for over 500$, but without modds ( i dont know whats the diffreneces) was 400-450, hehe tahats 4 of mine sh 28, off topic question, any good tuned pipe for sh 28 ?? what about with double ...... rdlogics BLUE DUAL stinger TUNED PIPE there u go or other ??

btw im very happy happy with mine sh 28 very powerful 1 thing i dont like is low rpms 28000, slow down little comparing to mach 26, but i like it, maybe tuned pipe will make diffreneces and thats maybe better investition then new engine ???

As far as "budget" big blocks, the SF .32 looks like the real deal.

Could you take the $150 you saved from getting the SF over the Nova and have the SF professionally modded? I wonder what the difference would be like then?

From what I've seen, the SF .32 has more than enough power to shred through your drivetrain. Looks like a real steal for $200.

I was wondering the same thing. TNT mods will do it for about $100, and if I remember correctly, EB mods is around $100 too. To me, balancing the crank alone is almost worth the price.

BTW - the NR XRP .28 is $425 mod'd from EB mods, and $360 stock. You can find the stock version around $10 or so cheaper elsewhere...

RE: collari 32 vs sure fire 32?

about the $500 engines i think it would be a waste unless your sponsered or racing in the nationals. i race at my local track with a picco .27 coupled to the hpi rippled pipe and i have more then enough power my truck actually pulls wheelies some time so i don't see the reason to get a $500 motor while i could just get another truck for that price[X(]
