Engine Life?
 

I'm a little interested in to see how long the engines in our monster trucks last?

Just list the name of the motor, how long it lasted, and how you used it?

Because i had a Kyosho 1/8 Mad Force .21 4WD w/GS-21R since 5/27/04 and the engine just died on me 3 days ago (5/24/06. I raced that truck and everthing else in between. And i just wanted to see if anyone else has had a engine in there truck that has lasted that long.

I just wana see how long your mt motors have lasted?

I have ran more than 18 Gallons on that motor! Fuel 20%-30%Nitro, 20% for bashing, 30% for Racing, Oil for both 16%

they will practically last forever as long if you take care of them. i fly model airplanes and i know a few guys running engines over 10 years old, they dont have any compression, but they still run.

You should re-do your poll selections. It should ask how many gallons, not months.

Mach 427 5+ gallons (Still Runnning, but loosing compression)
Picco 28 3+ gallons (Using at this time, runs perfect)

they run because, well we normally turn the engine slowly with out hand, and the air has enough time to escape, but when it revs up things happen it split seconds, so basically in my opinion thats what i think they can still run

but monster truck engines can differ since the rpm range it very wide, they idle then rev up so sometimes loss of compression can lead to engine probs,

but engines can run for a real long time if its maintained well, and use normal fuel, some fuels are race blended so they give maximum performance at the cost of short engine life, this doesent matter much to racers, but if you want a good running engine, use a normal fuel with at least 18% oil

and dont tune engines for temp, it is very misleading! just tune for performance, if you think its good and the engine sounds happy and idles happily then let it be, i am not saying not to use temp guns, but dont depend on them to get your engines tuned!!

most Manfs state ave life span is 2-3 gallons, mostly for the newbs that inproperly tune there engines and toast them. with proper maintenance and upkeep, i would say 6-10 gallons depending on upkeep, how its tuned. used, overheated ect.....

u really cant judge it becasue it depends on how the person breaks it in and takes care of it
