What would be a good nitro MT to get. I am new to the hobby and really new to nitro. I want a truck that I can jump and just generally have fun with. I dont want to race or compete I just want to bash. The main picks I have found are the Savage T-Maxx Sport Maxx and Terra Crusher. Are there any others? Which one's are the most durable? I know the T-Maxx has a huge aftermarket foloowing but I do not want to spend $2000 on a RC car, for that I will mod my real car.

I have been reading through a few of the posts here in the MT section. Some of the comments were about power. I am not really hat worried about top speed. I seen somewhere that the T-Maxx will do 40 mph. There is no way that I need something that fast. Can you imagine what would happen if I hit a dog or something :( I mean the things wiegh lke 7-10 lbs right? It would be like getting hit with a small bowling ball traveling 40 mph ouch! So top speed is not a requirement 20 mph would be plenty. What I want is tire spinning tourqe. Rooster tails and donuts you know what I mean.

Well yeah I( understand that the trucks are faster than that. I was just trying illistrate that I don't need the fastest truck out there. The savage 21 looks really nice, but it is $100 more than the Sport Maxx. I just see all the upgrades for the Maxx and I am wondering if all the metal upgrades are there because the plastic parts break quickly.

But still with the tmaxx you have to buy a battery and battery charger correct? which if so it cost $50 bucks for both for good ones

I was thinking about that. You also have to do that with the Terra Crusher right? One of the main reasons I decided to go with nitro is so I don't have to screw with batteries and charger. Arg choices choices. Does anyone run any of the Ofna or DuraTraxx monster trucks.

Screw it, I am just going to keep saving and get the Savage. Is there anything I should consider buying at the same time. I think I will get the reverse module at the same time. Are there any other hop ups there a good idea to go ahead and get.

I dont know my friend got ordered his save.
he didnt get any hope ups or anything, just made sure that he would have everything that he would need to start it when it comes.

my buggy only cost 299 from tower hobbies, now its up to 309
comes with a .25, glow plug heater, and an adapter that gos on a fuel quart bottle so you dont need to buy one.

OK I did a little more research and found that Traxxas make a pull start conversion ($20.00). So the T-Maxx with a pull start conversion is $409.99. Now the Savage 21 with pull start from the factory is $419.99 plus $37.99 for the reverse module. So $458 for the Savage or $410 for the Maxx. Now I know the LHS near stocks parts for the Maxx, but I don't know about the Savage. I am starting to see why so many peope have Maxx's. The have a good reputation and tons of support. It is hard to make a decision. Plus the Maxx's suspension is adjustable.

Both are good.....but I think you have answered your own question. Parts availability......cost.....etc. I have a TMaxx and LOVE IT! :)

I think so to. I am going to go by the LHS tommorow and ask them about Savage parts. The last time I went by there though they didnt even have a Savage in stock. I am very amazed at the amount of hop ups that are available for the Maxx. I mean if I wanted to spend $3000 on it I could. The durability seems to be high on the Maxx and I would also be supporting the local Texas economy :D .

It's good to support the local Texas economy. Your local hobby shop will appreciate it also. That is....if you can find one that you know does appreciate you and our business. I think most of them do and offer good support after the sale.

I bought my TMaxx locally.....(paid full retail for it) but always get a good reception and helpful suggestions when I ask questions upon returning there.

Well I don't know if I will buy the RC from the shop (T-Maxx = $469.99) but Traxxas is located in Dallas,TX about 360 miles from me (Houston,TX). But I would deffinately like to build a relationship with my LHS but not sure if I can afford to pay thier price. I could buy that cool X-Factor truck for that much :)

I hear you. It's hard to lay out that much $$$ when you "KNOW" you can buy it for much less. It's your call......as it's your $$$.

Good Luck! :)
