i have done 13 tanks with my savage. after i leaned it 1/8,

it runs GREAT. i am not saying that it has unlimited power.

i just compared my savage with other trucks which i saw

in 30+ videos. savage is running at grade B+ ( grades are

A B C D). of course i saw moded thunder tiger, and some

other custom trucks.


mostly i run my truck on grass. when the speed is high,

the steering just cant make enough effect. it still can turn

the trucks, but it cant turn the truck as much as i want to.

i dont know if this is a problem. maybe it is not a problem,

every truck does the same thing. i just dont know.

i only have one truck, it is savage

I hear you Landhsark. The first thing I noticed on the savage was that the steering servo was very weak even though it said it was a high torque servo. I later bought a high speed and high torque servo from Hobby town and the steering is much faster and stronger. I remember that when I placed the truck on the ground the wheels would not turn left or right. They moved just a little. Now with this new servo, the wheels move left and right with no prob. or stress on the servo saver, I also bought a water proof casing for the servo just in case. I do recommend that you change it out for a better one. A really good servo will set you back about 60-70 bucks and the casing will back about 10-15 bucks. Good luck

The case is made up of silicon and is screwed on to with the same mounting screws as the servo. The silicon has a plastic frame inside to help is seal and keep it's shape. and the sevo saver is what keeps the servo from burning itself out. like of like a slipper clutch.

That I know of yes, only a steering servo needs a saver. No I didn’t remove the original case I simply mounted it on top of the exposed part of the servo. Although they do have what you are talking about. You see, I live in Denver and we get a lot of snow and rain. So we have allot of items to water proof a truck or any part of one.

That is very disappointing to hear. One of the features that I liked was the fact the HPI placed a "Hi-Torque" servo in the steering. NOW I hear this!!!!!!!!! Very disappointing!!!!!!!!!

probably, higher than before.

but still, it is a stock servo.

BTW, the guy who is in charge of car section in my LHS told me

never to use digital servo in NITRO cars. he said the vibration

of nitro engine disturbed the digital servo alot.

he didnt recommand any servo for replacing the steering.

but he agreed with me about using hs-945mg

The guy at your HLS is full of crap. I have been running a Hitec HS-5625 digital servo in my Savage for two months now. I have not had a problem at all. My friend has been running Hitec HS-5945 digital servos in his Maxx forever. Never has a problem.

using a digital servo.

to convince me to buy a servo from him.

Anyone put the extra cell (6v I think) cell set up in it to see of that helped. The steering servo is rated twice, one for the standard and one for the extra cell configuration.

Here are the spec for the servo

High torque steering servo (rated at 70 oz./in. & .20 sec. speed @ 4.8v (4 cells) or 90 oz./in. & .16 sec. speed @ 6.0v (5 cells))

hs-945mg has 152oz @6v---74 dollars

HS-605BB has 94.4oz @6v( close to the stock one), it is just 29 dollars

hitec 645 servo(40.00 130 oz torque) this is wat I use in my nitro crusher. I think digital servos are to much.
