NASA administrator Sean O'Keefe, in a news conference Saturday afternoon, said there was "no indication that the mishap was caused by anything or anyone on the ground."

Shuttle Commander Rick D. Husband, Pilot William C. McCool, Payload Commander Michael P. Anderson, Mission Specialists David M. Brown, Kalpana Chawla and Laurel Clark and Israel's first astronaut, Ilan Ramon, were killed.

I live in waco TX and could see it from the sky, very sad and there are suposed to be wreckage all around this area

More than glowing debris was shining overhead
As it passed over earth onlookers had said
There were many trails of light streaking through the sky
Already tears flowing from their eyes
Men and women who took to flight
Having no knowledge of day turning to night
They may have passed on to life's end
But never will their flight come to an end
In our minds they will remain
And to a higher adventure they have attained
Shining brightly is what we all have seen
More will come again to fulfill their dream
Bringing home answers to help mankind
They have taken their place for all time

In the end when we have achieved our goals in space.. we shall remember these men...the men that were the stones we stepped on to achieve the progress we so enjoy!!
To them.. to the men who persihed in the past..and to those who died trying to make our lives easier...My deepest respect!

they were selling pieces of the space shuttle on ebay but they got taken off the bids were up to 10,000 dollars and they had it on the news if you get caught its like a federal offense and you can get like a 200,000 dollar fine

Thats a sick joke.. and saying that you would bid on that makes me sicker. This NOT a joke. People died doing this.
And I dont give a damn it was a bunch of lame idiots.
These were highly educated and dedicated people who were trying to make a difference for humanity.

actually this message board is no place for a thread like that one anyway..this isnt cnn this is a message board for radio control vehicles where people go to have fun and exchange rc ideas and questions not to be reminded of tragedy.i dont mean to sound un sympathetic but catastrophies happen everyday big and small ,and coming to this message board is one way to help take your mind off it...so you can go on crying in your beer ,i'll be outside tearin' it up.........thank you
