I'm trying to figure out if this is a standard shaft, or short shaft, engine? I lookedon OS's site and that was even less help.

Thanks!

I think that's the standard length. It just looks short because there's a spacer (not sure what it does) on there. It's the motor I'm currently using in my TC3, so I had to cut it down.

So you had to cut it down to 5mm?

How do you like the engine? Does it scare you that it doesn't come with a warranty?

2000-redrider is right. It is not the short shaft version. The short thaft versions of OS engines have a '(S)' in the name. For example '12 CV(S)'. While a 'X' designates a pull start. As in '12 CV-X(S)'.

I have that CV-R in my Kyosho Ultima. It is one sweet engine. :D
OS requires you to run at least 18% oil in your fuel. I think OS is the only manufacturer that requires that much oil for their car engines. I guess, since there is no warranty it really does not matter. :stupid: But it could not hurt.

Oh. I almost forgot. I had to cut the shaft. I got one of these nuts to help me with the cutting.

You can find detailed instructions on cutting a crankshaft on page 30 of the March 2003 issue of Radio Control Nitro magazine.

I not sure of the exact length I had to cut it down to. I just used the pilot shaft as a guide. Although I've had the motor for over a year, I've probably only put 1 gallon through it. IMO, it's a very good motor. It's very reliable and has decent power. I wouldn't worry about the fact it doesn't come with a warranty. Just keep it clean and don't run it too hot, and you shouldn't have any problems. I also have the .15 cv-r, which I run in my MT.

Ok, so this guy will run nicely in a HPI MT, and the shaft is long enough to fit... I guess that's all that counts..

LooneyToons, what kinda fuel do you run in it?

It will drop right into the HPI MT, assuming you have the correct engine mounts of course. This motor, and a 14 tooth clutch bell your MT should run very nicely.

Celly013,
I run Wildcat Eliminator Premium Plus. The 18% oil blend.
