TMaxx clutch question...

Just got my TMaxx today and have been breaking in the engine. I've noticed that the clutch is very grabby unless you pull away from the line quickly.

My question is does it smooth out or do I need to replace it with something smoother?

Thanks for your help

TMaxx clutch question...

If you mean it has a jerky motion when you accelerate slowly, then that's the clutch being engaged. Once your engine reaches a certain number of RPM the centrifugal clutch is engaged. The jerky motion is caused by the clutch not getting engaged all the way.

This is the way I remember it being explained to me, I hope I got it right. If not someone please correct me :)....

TMaxx clutch question...

I understand that the clutch is trying to engage, my question is will it smooth out?

My RC10GT has a very smooth clutch engagement compared to the TMaxx. I know that other clutchs can be quite smooth in their engagement. If the TMaxx clutch doesn't smooth out over time I would rather upgrade the clutch than have the car jerking off of the line with small amounts of throttle.

I could see it causing a lot of problems in rock gardens and such where delicate throttle response is needed, which is the reason for the desire of a smoother clutch.

clutch

wookie, there is a clutch inside the transmission thats i causing your problem not the clutch on the engine it should smooth out as you get more fun time on it or you could just put a forward only conversion in the transmission then it would act like your rc10gt like i did

TMaxx clutch question...

Interesting.. when I had my SS my problem was the opposite!
The damn thing would engage WAY too slowly! hehe
Once it did.. the car became responsive again.

If its too grabby to be considered normal.. check it out..
MY CVDs arent smooth because STUPID me.. I spillt some Threadlock/loctite in em!
Now they are grabby as hell.. GRR
I'm gonna make a post and see what I can do about this

TMaxx clutch question...

yes the tranny in a t-maxx is jerky but if you go with the forward only it will stop also MIP makes a great 4-1 clutch for it that works better than the stock setup so the transission from the engine to tranny is smoother also
