RE: .46 or over engine??

What truck u plan on putting it in? The hot bodies .46 has many many trubles and there are other options to go with if u want massive torque and hp.

RE: .46 or over engine??

an associated mgt and i really want a big motor that doesnt rev high buyt has a ton of torque and i cant spend over 200 bucks im looking at some heli engines also. And whats the problems with the hot bodies .46 ?

RE: .46 or over engine??

Well the the huge block engine have extended mounting holes so fitting might be an issue, The hb .46 has had several major probs in the past and there still there to date. Week con rod, pull start, one way, crab, over heating, impossible to tune, it goes on and on with the hb .46. Now for the other 2, Cen makes the .46 as well, it is a better big block but it has had its issues to but its more reliable, the only thing i can remember was that the engines were not running right wen they were released, they might of fixed it by now, i know the gst 7.7 is the newer version which has fixed its old flaw. There is one made by thunder tiger which is the owner of accioted its a .70, its the biggest re nitro engine i have seen! I have seen little to know probs with that motor!

RE: .46 or over engine??

You can get nitro engines for planes over 3.0 CI in size. .90 is a common size for heli engines. I don't know how you will go getting one of these within your budget though. Remember once you get an engine like this you will need some spare cash to buy things like mounts and clutches to fit your engine. I would suggest say around the .4ish size to keep it simple.

RE: .46 or over engine??

ya but i would need a bigger cooling head because im puttin it in my mgt

steven16 04-30-2007 05:47 PM

RE: .46 or over engine??

so what could i do about that? you cant put in a electric fan because it messes with the electronics

steven16 04-30-2007 09:18 PM

RE: .46 or over engine??

Liquid-cooling! :D

Seriously, you could fan-cool the thing. A bit of creative work to keep the fan's operation from interfering with any other electronics would not be too difficult. For starters, a 5v fan from a computer's video card is already brushless and designed to avoid any grounding issues within a power supply.

Or, just drive really freakin fast and keep the airflow up.

;)

RE: .46 or over engine??

ya thats a good idea lol but what do you mean by liquid cooling

ttoks 05-01-2007 08:16 PM

RE: .46 or over engine??

what he means by liquid cooling is either find a cooling head for a boat to put on it and run a radiator, or cut the cooling fins off the head and make your own water cooled head, both will work.

steven16 05-02-2007 06:08 PM

RE: .46 or over engine??

that would be that ultimate cooling but theres no way you could make a working radiator that small or get the water to circulate but has anyone tryied it cuz if i can see some pics ill try it to i have the tools:D

Anomie 05-02-2007 08:46 PM

RE: .46 or over engine??

The radiators that are made for liquid-cooling CPUs in a computer are perfect for such a system, but they can run a bit large for smaller scale projects. The smallest I've seen is about 4x4". This type of system has been successfully run by at least one member here, but I forget the name. It was discussed in the crawler forum as well.

RE: .46 or over engine??

thats cool i never knew a computer could be liquid cooled and is that your truck on the site cuz its looks pretty awsome

steven16 05-03-2007 05:17 PM

RE: .46 or over engine??

oh ya and do you mean 4 by 4 inches?

Anomie 05-03-2007 05:50 PM

RE: .46 or over engine??

Yes, 4x4 inches. I am going to use one that is roughly 4x6, but I think that is too big for 1/10 or even 1/8 scale.

steven16 05-03-2007 06:34 PM

RE: .46 or over engine??

what do you mean to big? like to big to be the right scale to the truck?

pythonfan 05-03-2007 07:14 PM

RE: .46 or over engine??

i thinks she means to big for the truck!

Hey did u find the motor yet?

I found this just now!
