Engine problem please help

I took my engine apart for another reason, but now that im trying to put it back togeter, you know that gear thats at the end of the shaft, the gear that connects to the spur gear, well it wont tighten, and its not like my other cars, my other cars use a screw to tighten it , this one used a little small c clip to hold it on, but it wont tighted. If it does not tighten, then the shaft will just make it spin, and it wont be enough power to spin the spur gear correct ? How can i fix this?

The clutch bell is supposed to spin freely untill the shoes grab on with enough RPMs. If the gear is stuck in place you wont be able to start the engine cuz the whole drivetrain will be a load on the engine and one way bearing.

Good pic elite. You see the shoes will open up with enough RMPs and grab the inside of the bell transfering the power to the spur gear.

A bigger ver. of the same pic.
