"sounds bad" mgt trouble
 

My mgt is making a very strange sound when I brake hard on the street. recently there is a clicking sound coming from my truck When I brake hard, btw it does pretty much lock the tires up when I brake hard. Has this happened to anyone else? Can anyone tell me what mite be making the noise?

Probably the diff(s) - if the pinion skips over the teeth of the ring gear it clicks. I've experienced it, and unfortunately it's a relatively common problem with unshimmed diffs.

You may need a whole new diff, or maybe get away with just a new pinion gear. To stop it happening again see[link=http://www.monstergt.com/articles/transmission_diff_shim.php]these[/link] pages.

Your pinion gear might look somehting like this (one on the right in particular...)
