shifting problem

I have put 6 tanks of fuel through my savage, and yet can not get it to shift. The last 3 tanks I did lean down the carb to get some higher RPM"S out of it,and that did not seem to do the trick.I adjusted the shifting screw a little to make it shift sooner, but with no results.Do I need to just give it more time? or lean it out yet more to get higher RPM"S ? I do have a good steady stream of smoke still coming out of the exhaust. The truck runs like a top,and does not bog, hesitate or feel sluggish on top end..Any help would be nice.....thanks

When I built up my first maxx...I put a megatech 16 in it. I did nothing to the tranny, it was stock.
It took a good 4 tanks anyways, but it did eventually shift.
Maybe, if its newer, run it by the shop you got it at, should be somone there to put an eyeball on it to make sure itll be good to go.
I have no first hand exp. with this truck, i know the maxx and yours are 2 different beasts.

chevy 2 :

I had the same problem. The trucks runs great but doesn't shift !
You have a good top end speed right ?
I bet the screw above the 2nd gear adjustmentscrew came loose. Try to find it , I bet it's on the bottom of the tranny !
Screw it back in using some treadlock.

This schould do it , I had the same problem.

Or, you could have the same problem as me, the set screw actually broke after mucho pounding.

However, since yours is brand new, it's probably just backed out. Screw it back with lock tite (blue).

Does your savage roll backwards? If not, your screw definitely backed out.

can I leave the return spring off all together? It really dont do a thing, since the servo does all the work.

Chevy 2,

I run the 8 port without a return spring.

However, when I ran the .21 Nitro Star, I just adjusted the throttle trim (transmitter) until the throtte opened all the way.

You can get it to go all the way open. It also helps to change steering servo to higher torque, then put the old steering servo on throttle. This give throttle faster and more torque for throttle and brakes too.

Another thing,The transmission kinda slides into 2nd gear. I can hear the motor changing rpm's but it takes a few seconds for the trans to lock back in.(like its slipping for a couple seconds....any ideas.....thanks

Thats a good idea,I did notice the that the servo could be a little stronger...You really notice it,when the batteries start to got a little weak...

Another thing you can do it hook up a 5 cell, 6 volt servo battery. Really increases you servo torque.

I have my 5 cell mounted on top of the plastic cover for the RX receiver. I have it hooked on with Tie wraps (zip ties) with the battery sitting on a piece of foam to help absorb shock.
