center diff
I keep hearing this all over. Center diffs are what seperate the mt's from the truggys. what exatcly is the center diff and how much differnce is there between a regular diff.
|
RE: center diff
A center diff works the same way the front and rear diffs work, only front to back instead of side to side. The advantage is handling, it basically helps with traction when going into and coming out of corners..
There are more differences between a MT and Truggy besides the center diff though. Truggies are basically buggies with bigger wheels and truck bodies.. |
RE: center diff
truggies are really there own class now, they're longer then buggies, have longer a arms so they're wider, they have different gearing, more often then not have different shock towers and radio tray as well, but truggies are a lot closer to buggies then monster trucks.
as for the center diff, with and without is like night and day, with a center diff you loose some acceleration and top speed, but you gain an enormous amount of on power cornering, which more then makes up for it, really the best truck to see the differance in is the revo and the GST, as they are the only monster trucks with the option of using a center diff, truggies have to use the CD, or have it locked which in many cases destroys the diff if you ever want to use it how it's meant to be again. |
RE: center diff
The center diff has nothing to do with top speed, strictly handling... it may take longer to get to the top speed, but the truck should have the same 'high end' with or without....
It's still basically a buggy with larger wheels and body :) :) |
RE: center diff
trust me, after running a revo, a muggy, and an 8ight T with and without the center diff (locked the muggys permanently and the 8ight's with paper temporally) the center diff does impact on top speed by about 5 MPH, less with thicker CD oil, more with thinner CD oil.

RE: center diff
mmkay :)

RE: center diff
so do buggys have center diffs.
|
RE: center diff
ORIGINAL: Snaut Rocket so do buggys have center diffs. Center diffs are great for handling and allowing you to customize brake bias. It will not effect speed all that greatly if properly set up. A locked or no center diff will be more efficient so it might be more speed, but that is likely because you have the wrong weight oil in the center diff casing power to drivetrain loss. |
RE: center diff
as i know, buggy and truggies have center differential, some times they upgrade it with 2 speed.
mt have transmission like gear box. |
RE: center diff
the thunder tiger ST-1 can have the center diff changed out fr a two speed transmission, the ofna 1:7 has a two speed center diff however, the first time i'v seen it on any car, the 1:7 is a 1:7th scale on road car.

RE: center diff
ORIGINAL: ttoks the ofna 1:7 has a two speed center diff however The Mammoth line has had a 2 speed center tranny set up since it was produced, even the new XTM giant version of the Mammoth comes with a 2 speed center tranny. |
