T-Maxx stalling

I have a new T-Maxx and have put about 10 tanks through it. Is it typical for it to stall often? It idles fine, but sometimes it just dies even with full tank.

How often should you change the glow plug?

What are the stock hi/lo/idle settings? I am 1.5 turns on lo, 4 turns on hi.

Seems like I am running rich when I go to restart it. Glow plug has a dark look to it.

See Traxxas Message Board

There has been alot of talk about this problem on the Traxxas Message board. Some people that have spoken with Traxxas about this issue have posted a fix that has helped a few people.

Here is a pic of my setup I tried today.

I bought 3ft of new gas line and put 2' on the pressure side and 1ft' on the fuel side. I also rerouted the lines away from the head. Stalling was significantly less and easier to start. I ran about 5 tanks without much difficulty.

I suspect the carb is vapor locking, so rerouting the lines has helped.

Ah.. now i know why my motor wouldnt idle. I knew it was loading up on me but I didnt know what to do. I adjusted on the needles forever too trying to get it to run right.

Well my engine is bad now since i forgot my air filter one day in the dirt but Ill know what to do after I get a replacement 2.5 :)

Im wondering if I should use these long fuel line tip for the Sirio .18. If anyone is running this engine in their maxx let
me know how its working for you. thnks

I run the Sirio in my Maxx and run about a 5.5-6 inch piece of tubing on the pressure side and about the same on the carb inlet side with no problems. The Sirio is a sweet engine..

The factory settings are too lean, set the main at 5 turns.

Low end 5/8 out, High speed 3 1/4 out ( five turns out on the high end it will be like draining your fuel jug).

These settings are off many trucks (also one dialed in at traxxas service).

I would like to lean my tmaxx out to less than 5 turns on the main, but when I do the engine temp gets up around 300 and it flames out when I let off the throttle.

Your way above sea level. I'm in the swamp (below sea level), I forgot to mention that.......!

Traxxas says...........................

I called tech support and they told me my settings were to lean, but when I asked why they worked so well for so long, they did not have an answer.

I also asked if three gallons of fuel was par for these engines, and they said its more than par. I asked about a piston and sleeve, 90.00 bucks (for 105 you get a new engine, I don't understand the math on most large companies).

And when I talked to the parts department, he said, if your engine fires right up cold and then won't start, thats a good sign
of a weak engine. THIS IS MOST LIKELY NOT EVERYONES PROBLEM. The trucks we have are well used, and have all been run about the same amount of time.

If your engine is newer, this is most likely not your answer, unless
you toasted it, or did not break it in correctly.

my 2 cents ( we sent two of our in a while ago for replacement).

thx for the info... My truck ran like crap in the beginning but it could have been carb settings... I just put 1 gallon through in the past 10 days.

I hear 3-4 gallons before rebuild...
