It is an expensive hobby. But if you're like me with a job in the day, it's not so bad. Most of my income goes straight to my trucks the moment it comes in!! Has anyone been seriously in debt because of their hobby?? I'd like to know that :D

I've been running the stock steering servo since I purchased the Savage three months ago.... It's still turning the wheels just fine. I recently installed a 5 cell Nimh receiver battery ($20 Ebay) which upped the servo torque (BIG difference!). I can't say enough about the Savage, this thing is a TANK!

I got a T-Maxx used from my LHS. 300 bucks with Pro-Line suspension and a crappy Hot Bodies .18 engine.

The engine blew and I have made numerous upgrades, including the new Sirio .18. Now I am competely happy with it. I tore it down and rebuilt the entire truck, and added a new aluminum Chassis, steering knuckles, and front bulkheads.

My buddy just got an OFNA buggy which rips like nobody's business. The cool thing is that my T-maxx with the wide suspension and Sirio engine feels like a big oversized buggy.

The thing I like about the T-Maxx is the high availability of parts. And yes I have heard alot of people complain about their 2.5 stock engines having problems, but most people seem to be able to fix those problems if they know how to troubleshoot.

Remember that the 2.5 rips almost as good as the Siro 6 port. In fact someone did a great in depth analysis on the two and they rated the 2.5 higher than the 6 port Sirio.

My next purchase is going to be either a Savage or a GS Storm.. probably the Storm since I already have a MT. But the Savage looks so cool that I have to get one someday.

Good luck, and dont let all the over-opinionated fan boys sway you too much. I never did get why product loyalty was such a big deal with these things.

erso. if there are any rc tracks near you or somewhere that alot of people drive their trucks, that would be your most informative format. maybe you'll get lucky and someone will let you drive their truck. i just sold my 2nd gen. t-maxx after putting about $800 into repairs and upgrades, and now i'm waiting for my savage to show up in the mail. as far as the aftermarket world, there are plenty of hop-up options out there to keep a savage owner just as happy as a t-maxx owner. well maybe a little more, because on first hand experience you will spend a lot of time tuning your maxx rather than driving your savage. think about the common problems with both trucks.........t-maxx= engine problems & savage= broken dog-bones (which hpi supplys replacements in the box) i think i would rather spend my time learning a new hobby that might have me replacing a few parts rather than trying to learn with something that has chronic engine problems. just my .02!!! good luck welcome to (maybe) your first addiction :stupid:

Whatever you do.... dont feel bad about getting a T-Maxx of all things... If you do an E-Bay search for the parts available for a T-Maxx Compared to a Savage you'll feel a bit better.

I think they are both great trucks... I just happen to have had a great Experience with my Maxx... Tough as nails and Fast as Hell with the Sirio...

You wont be dissapointed.... :)
