Cooling window in windshield
Any ideas on the best way to cut a hole in the windshield to cool the enging? Is there a good way to make a template? Any other tips on keeping the engine from overheating?

cut it with a hobby knife (exacto knife). Just do the best you can to cut a sqare on the side the engine is on. If you have a dremel, you can trim it up quite nicely. Also, cut out one of the side windows of your truck.

Ya you can do it that way or make a perfact hole just by:
Takeing a small peice of old lexan about 3/4 of an inch long or so, drill a hole on the very edge of each side, then place a screw through one hole, and simply screw the peice to the windshield were ever you want the air hole, then simply stick your exacto knife in the other hole then start going around in circles till theres a nice deep line, then just use the exacto to cut the rest of it out. Takes no time at all, and the end resault is a perfect circle!! |

Cooling window in windshield
Well on my stock savage body i used a good pair of fiskars and cut out the whole windshield. Worked great, could carry by handle and turn off Rx w/o removing body or bending it upward(very convenient)
it didnt appear to loose structural integrity (no cracks or splits and the body is thorughly whooped, but still in use) On my new body, i bought the whole reamer so i just reamed 2 holes in the center of the windeshield. But im not happy with this set up, cant carry by handle and hole is too small ti fit fingers to turn off Rx. So i will probably just use lexan shears (also bought with new body) and cut the whole window out on it. |

Use a wood HOLESAW guys! That or a round sanding drum on the end of your dremel, and dont cut sharp corners-thats the FIRST place it will split or crack! Use the round sanding drum, and leave the edges round for the best results. The wood holesaw is the fastest and most perfect looking though.
