Thunder Tiger change to Brushless
I just got a ducati 999 and i just want to change the motor, which one is reasonably fast but not too expensive?
and do i require to change anything else if i replace the motor to a brushless one? would this be ok for now? 36X56 BRUSHLESS MOTOR 2600KV GOOD FOR 1/10 CAR & TRUCK ALSO... = 30$ or http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/item.cfm?itemId=538719 and would they work? thanks |

You will need to replace the ESC to one that is designed to run brushless motors. Have a look at the Castle Creations and Novak combos. I run a 6000kv Novak setup in my Nuova Faor & it's a bit too much for track use. I'd go with something a bit less.

If you haven't already done so, I have the Castle Creations 5700KV motor with the Sidewinder ESC.. been in there for more than a year now and works great... haven't had any issues..Its drop in simple.. I did change the pinion 2 teeth up from stock and went to 2.4 ghz as well.... some advice for you... change out the front and rear tires to GRP rubber or other quality racing tire as well... the brushless combo has so much power the stock tires will just break loose whenever you hit the throttle.. You will quickly learn throttle control.. or you will flip the bike over every time... here's a quick pic of mine before the new tires and spektrum radio...

I'm running the same setup. I agree, the stock tires are junk and need to be upgraded. Otherwise, the 5700kv motor will provide plenty of power.

2S LiPo is plenty fast with a Castle 5700kV. On most tracks you'll never see top end with that motor and a 2S batt, and if you do ever get it to its upper limits, it is scary fast.

Sorry for the slow reply.. I run 2S 25C lipo's in there and its very fast that way.. I tried 3S and it was too fast.. couldn't use more than 1/4 throttle or it would flip.. with 2S its running somewhere in the mid 40's or so and will wheelie at almost any speed... I haven't been able to give it full throttle even with the 2S.. usually around just above 1/2 is all I have room for.. This bike eats up realestate very quickly..
As an update.. I have just painted up a new body and still looking for a new rider.. my last one lost his head.. literally....I never had any issues with this setup and am very pleased with the way it performs.. I don't race it, but just run with other bikes including nitro around a new parking lot.. Basher racing at its finest... |

4600kv should be ok. My friend is using a 4300kv in his TTe. Reasonable speed. I am using a 5700kv in my NF and it is sure over powered. :)

I would agree... you can get away with a 4600 but you won't be as fast as the 5700... you can gear for the motor, but the bikes are a little limited in gearing selection so a higher kv motor will make your life easier...

hi! on 5700kv motor your using 2s lipo 25c 5000mah? or less mah? also the run time 8mins or less? about the pinion is 16? dave on "gotnitroonline" gave me a good deal. they're cheaper and have a good customer service. so a NF is on the way. i got the 5700kv motor in my LHS. hope this NF is not like TTe that you have to upgrade almost all parts. but its worthy my TTe runs good and with help in the forum thank you everyone. |

For comparison, a Castle CM-36 5700kV motor controlled by a Mamba Max running with a 4000mAH 2S 25C pack at race speeds (1:8-scale sized track, geared for about 55 MPH top end) gives me a solid 15 minutes+ of hard running.

URS856... I run a couple of different batteries on my bike.. I usually run a zippy 25C 2200mah 2S pack and will get about 10 minutes of hard running or around 20 minutes of bashing.. .I have run up to 4000 mah 2S packs and will get more than 30 minutes of bashing, but you get fried from running that long constantly.. I compare it to flying Helicopters.. just can't concentrate that long without a break... anything bigger than 4000 mah is tough to fit in the confines of the battery holder and I don't want to risk the batteries getting damaged in a crash...

thanks, got used of flying electric heli's and planes of 5mins only. atleast more time on bike. addicted already in a month got 3 bikes already but not much to spend than heli's. have a nice day. |

Hi all I'm thinking about getting one the electric or notro but i know the electric will be less hasle. Anyways how fast is the electric one out of the box? And I already have an new castle creations sidewinder motor and esc...will it fit in the TTiger bike ? (it says it's for 1/18 scale but i was told that you can put those 1/18 scale motors in a 1/5th scale bike do to the adjustable motor mounts??? is that true???) Thanks

The motor mount on the Ducati is adjustable to a degree and thats only for spur gear mesh.. there are holes in it that line up with 540 motors.. can't see how anything smaller would fit... |

I can't really comment on the Venom bike because I don't own one.. I have a friend with one and he like it.. Its alot smaller than the TTE so you have to be careful where you can run it.. from what I read its a good bike with a little tweaking a great bike...
As far as the knockoff TTE bike... I don't know anything about it.. I personally won't spend a dime on a knockoff product, but I'm not sure TT is still producing the TTE, so you may not have a choice.. Although there are still plenty of original TTE's around... Whatever you do, if you decide to get a TTE or the clone.. replace the stock tires for real racing tires.. The stock ones are too hard and the fronts are wedge shaped making driving a chore... There are tons of mods for the bike on this site as well as others that will make the bike great... |

The one in ebay is a TT clone. It is avaliable in both electric and nitro. The quality seems quite good as my friend got one. Other than the colour the bike look and run exactly like my TTn. And yes all parts are interchangable with the TT.
