Will a spur gear with less teeth make the top speed increase and decrease the acceleration.....or do I have it backwards???

I'm wanting to increase my top speed and have a 66T spur gear.....thinking of getting a 64T.

Going down in tooth count will make the truck faster.

except for the pinion gear, which for nitro, is the clutch bell. In that case going up in teeth will improve top speed.

Thanks for the replies....

I went ahead and ordered an 64T spur gear and a 16T clutch bell to replace my 15T......don't know how much of a difference it'll make but hopefully it'll be a little faster.

My neighbor has a Rustler and it is barely faster, I can't have the slowest truck on the block!
