Nitro Ace Changing diameter of wheels will change final gear ratio. If you need better low end use a clutchbell with fewer teeth.... I think thats right. You may, or may not, need to play with this, but your setup may make truck more drivable and less spinning in loose surface.

Yes nitrohead, I'm sure you're right about the gearing and it seems that because of the incredible rpm range of these engines they push these tall tires no problem. It must be a bit harder on the clutches. The vehicles tip over easier with these tires so they're fun but not perfect.

Hi i'm new here.

All the way from sunny England

I recently lost one of my drive pin's on my DST. Order some off ebay 1.5mm by 8mm but thet are to small, so i guess i need 2mm by 10mm.

Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Also i'd like to upgrade to 17mm hex's to run larger wheels and tyres, where can i order these from ?

Cali-T5,

Yes they include the drive pins, the drive hexs, and a hex nut for securing the wheel. In short everything you will need to bolt some 1/8th scale wheels onto your DBX.

For what it is worth,
Spiro

Motor mod finished. I used a GO .18 rear exhaust slide carb and a HPI side to rear exhaust mod header pipe. Mounted it useing an old 1/8 lower mount and moded upper mount from a CEN Matrix. Also has CEN bigbore shocks, 1/8 wheel adapters, 6 gear diffs and steel gears all round. And it ripes. Last thing I need to sort out is better axles all round, any ideas?

Chalkie.

I have purchased a few upgrades for mine...
Upgrade chassis
Tuned muffler
1/8 wheels + wheel nuts
Universal swing shafts
Upgrade brake discs
Upgrade clutch

Just wondering if there is an upgrade spur gear?
I manage to strip these prety regulary and was wondering about a steel one?
Also anyone had any experiences locking the centre diff?

Here's my brushless DBX. I used to have a Hobbywing 17.5T 2400kV motor in it and replaced that with a Medusa 3650V1 3300kV motor today running on 3s. Simply put, it is FORKIN AMAZING!!! I liked my DBX before, by now, I absolutely love it. It's super fast. The ESC is really smooth and runs cool. The motor without the fan hits 120F on a 90F day (pretty good). It's such a super fast setup that lightweight, extremely agile, handles amazingly (I love 4WD), and overall a super blast to drive. Sorry, I'm still hyped from running it just shortly today after changing the motor. I still need to re-wire the fan on the motor as it's a 12V fan and currently running on 6V. I'm thinking about extending the chassis a bit to make it 1/8 buggy size. It's already about 1" wider than a 1/8 truggy with the stock wheels/tires and only about 20mm shorter. Anyways, here's info and pics of my new setup.

My setup is:

Hobbywing EZRun 60A ESC
HXT 6V/3A UBEC (from Hobbycity)
Graupner graphite motor mount (from OSE) - modified by me
Medusa 3650V1 3300kV 5mm-shaft 4-pole motor
40mm 12V fan for Medusa
3.5mm bullet connectors (I'll swap them for 4mm if I find them inadequate. So far, they're working fine.)
13T Mod1 Pinion
Ofna Ultra LX One Yellow Springs
Mix of 20wt and 60wt shock oil

Here's pics of my old setup:

BTW, a couple of things:

1. Anyone want a stock Kyosho GXR-18 engine with pipe, header, filter, brakes, fuel tank for $40 shipped! 7 tanks through it. Front bearing started leaking a bit on the 7th tank. Bearing can be found for $8-$12 online. Great low runtime cheap backup engine.

2. What size (and thread pitch) are the flat head screws that attach into the rear diff/bulkhead from the bottom of the chassis? I need longer ones (about 3mm longer). Or maybe just direct me to longer replacements.

3. What are the P/Ns for the DST shock towers and body mounts? I can't find those anywhere. I'd like to get a DST or truck body.

4. Anyone have a new or great condition DST shell they want to sell? And possibly the body mounts too? Might trade the engine in #1 for a brand new one.

Thanks.

Try boiling them(arms) for 10min max makes them less brittle, more flexible particularly in cold weather. Will stretch before they break.

I'm thinking about drawing up some designs for an electric motor mount and shock towers. The motor mount will be made of 6061T6 and shock towers made of 7075T6.
Would anyone be interested in these parts? Price estimates are $40-50 for mount and $20-30 for tower. I'd like these parts for myself, but cost comes way down with more parts.

In case anyone's interested, here's a shock tower I drew up. My plans are to make it in 7075 T6 aluminum (the hardest aluminum available). It's 6.1mm thick, so it's a beefy tower (strong), but should be fairly light with the large cutouts. There's 7 shock mounting positions, vs. 3 from stock, for more shock tunability.
If there's interest, I'll run a batch of these.

Just purchased my  Kyosho DBX. Great price and the quality looks good. Anyone out there replaced the original wheels/tires with aftermarket ones? I wanted to raise the car a bit, like the monter trucks.

Hey does anyone knows wether there is a widener adapter for the DST's 12mm hex to a 14mm? I would love to try the HPI Bullets wheels and tires on this baby if it permits.
