Too cold to break in?
It is currently between 55-60 deg outside. is this too cold to break in a motor? can i just increase the number of tanks used to break in?

RE: Too cold to break in?
this is my first break in in weather under 80 deg so bare with me. I know carbs are set from factory to run rich during break in. This thing is flooding itself out. I dont mean just barely. I mean at idle this TRX 3.3 is burning a tank of fuel in like 7min, barely breaking 100 deg and will not run with the igniter removed. I have leaned a little but i dont wanna overdue it. Is the temp effecting this that much? or may i have another issue here?

u may need to lean it a lil .. only adjust the hsn for now.... if u can get it to idle... let come up to 200 degrees than begin the traxxas process

RE: Too cold to break in?
I have broke in motors in 10 degree weather with no issues.I do what was already suggested and use a sock on the head it holds heat pretty good. You want to at least break 200 with the motor during break in and return to bdc to cool.Breaking it in at 100 is doing more harm than good so lean it out to get temps up but don't exceed 220.The 3.3 is notorious for broken con rods during break in if ran to lean so watch the temp.

RE: Too cold to break in?
yeah kinda ticked really cause my LHS is 40 mins away and is closed on sundays. so my break in of the new 3.3 has to wait. also the tweaking of my buds XL is on stand by too. bummed cause i was getting really close with that XL. was ripping through the gears quick. just needed a lil bit more low end punch. the way the 3.3 was today It woudnt reach 200deg for anything. for a few brief moments i was able to remove the igniter, but as soon as i applied any throttle it would flood out. It was getting so much fuel i could pour out puddles while it was idling. you sure just HSN is gonna fix this?

RE: Too cold to break in?
Today i ran my Revo 3.3 and my brand new nitro rustler that was just broken in at 40 degree weather. And today i was driving them in 25 degree weather with snow. I was running about 170 degrees and i put the body on and got it up too 205. So i say its ok to do it, just add 2 tanks to break in

RE: Too cold to break in?
ok so its 75 deg here today and i went to break in the motor. I reset needles back to factory settings and began process. way rich. so i start to lean it down to get the temps up started with a 1/4 turn on HSN, up to 178. another 1/4 turn. still 178. 1/2 turn(cause i was getting impatient) up to 195. thats now 3 turns out factory is 4. and barely maintaining 200. I still have a light smoke trail, so i dont think im damaging anything. I think im gonna switch out the carb to see what happens. it just isnt responding to the tuning the way it should.

RE: Too cold to break in?
Ok so i finally was able to run it through break in process. I put in the carb that i had been running on my previous 3.3 set to factory and no difference. in order to maintain temp over 200deg i was 2 turns lean on HSN and 3/4 lean on LSN. never had this happen before. Could i have a Factory issue with this motor?
