Which Engine?
Hey guys, I'm getting a new engine for My Kyosho Ultima ST because the old engine is running dead and instead of replacing the sleeve and piston I'm getting a whole new engine. The ones I was looking at were both O.S., the [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXXA43&P=0]O.S. .12 CV-RX (S) w/10ER Rotary Carb[/link] and the [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBWK5&P=0]O.S. .15 CV-RX (S) w/10ER Rotary Carb[/link]. I'm looking for more power but they both look to be nearly the same (besides the displacment) but is it worth spending the extra $35 on the .15?
I was also looking at one other engine, the [link=http://www.ofna.com/eng-picco7port.html]OFNA Picco .12 7 Port SG Shaft[/link], is that a good engine? If anybody knows any other good engines with a short shaft (I don't really care about the carb) could you please put them here? Thanks guys! (O and sorry this is so long) Matt |
RE: Which Engine?
O.S. .15 CV-RX (S) w/10ER Rotary Carb is a good one.

RE: Which Engine?
Well if your bashing get the .15 engine. If your racing get the .12 because it is legal for racing.

RE: Which Engine?
Wow thats a fast reply, I just posted this about 10 min ago, anyways I might be racing later on but right now I am just bashing, is there any noticablt power difference?
Thanks again, Matt |
RE: Which Engine?
You will have a bout the same speed with either. Its just that the .15 will be quicker of the line. ( by just a little bit though)

RE: Which Engine?
Well since I am going to be racing later on I should get the .12? Does anybody know about the OFNA one?
Thanks guys, Matt |
RE: Which Engine?
Oops, forgotnto add this to my other post, how much is a little bit? and do they both have the same top speed?
Sorry 'bout that, Matt |
RE: Which Engine?
whatever engine you get, get slide carb. it so much more acurate.

RE: Which Engine?
Hmm I kind of need to change my original question...What high performance engines are good that have the short shaft (in other words anything that will fit in the rc10gt)?
Thanks everybody, Matt |

RE: Which Engine?
Everyone brings up the issue of the .12 being legal for racing and that's true if your running R.O.A.R. events, or your track follows the same rules. The truth is most tracks will let you race with a .15, or .18 engines, especially in the novice and intermediate class. Very few tracks that I've run across even checks your engine. The strictest track I've been to, only checks the "A" class trucks for engine size. In your case, I'd go with the .15.
